Monkeys were fine with their debut, which was good for what it was. A solid sing-a-long with amusing lyrics etc.

Second album was pure turd and they seem to have cast off whatever fun they had and take themselves way too seriously, as though they are the saviours of modern music.

Speak for yourself. Do Me a Favour and 505 are unbelievable tracks. I prefer Favourite Worst Nightmare.

Not sure where you're getting this "saviours of modern music" crap but I'm pretty sure it didn't come from them. They certainly haven't made such a radical departure in their sound to merit such a harsh reprimand, but even if that was true it doesn't really explain why a more serious sound would equal bad music. Either way, it's a fact that they're the best thing to happen to British music in the past 5 years. Record sales and critical reception speak in my favor.
