i'm a huge fan

the compilation in the OP is pretty similar to the one I have

without Buddy, there'd probably be no Beatles

My mate used to always sing Buddy Holly to me on holiday. But I'd never heard him or heard of him until summer there :O.

In all fairness, Buddy Holly probably deserves a ton more credit than Elvis for influencing Rock N' Roll.. Elvis, of course, was a more important showman. But Holly definitely a more crucial actual songwriter.

Terence Hill, as recently confirmed during an interview to an Italian TV talk-show, was offered the role but rejected it because he considered it "too violent". Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.
Al Pacino = God

Among all the rock artists to die in 50s, 60s, 70s, Buddy Holly is the one with the biggest what if. If he didn't die he would have had a tremendous career beyond the great one he already had.
