The Fall.

Having seen them live and listened to the album in question many many times, I can say that the 2005 incarnation of the Fall was the best one in years, and sacking the lot of them (except Elena Poulou, for obvious reasons) could so easily have been a huge mistake on Mark E. Smith's part. The band Smith hired to record the next two albums isn't at all bad - I do like both of them, but 2005's Fall Heads Roll is among their best studio efforts and therefore takes something very special indeed to beat it. It's a task Reformation and Imperial Wax Solvent aren't up to (in my opinion of course).

So, yeah, he should have stuck with them in other words.
