I won't pretend to know who's the best now although I like some of Eminem's stuff due to it flowing into the mainstream.
I would like to say though an album I still listen to now is one by KRS-1 called, By all means necessary. It still has a freshness and have played the tune from it by the name of Jimmy hat (i think) regular, not only for education but for the quirk factor.
I love that tune "Follow me Leader" - Eric B & Rakim.
