Why didn't they consider it? Do you know that?

You'd feel better if they won things...at the grammys?

And what the f*ck was up with Disturbed being nominated for ANYTHING?

Boring? Why because you don't listen to that type of music? Amazing covers of Waits, Van Zant, Sam Phillips and Skip James.

Whats boring about it?

I was at fault earlier, turns out MIA was nominated for Best Record, not Album. They were still wrong though :P

My biggest question was why in were the jonas brothers even allowed on stage with stevie wonder? thats insane.... plus the ****s didnt even know the words to superstitious, WOW.

mannny 02-09-2009 08:10 PM

^That made my cry on the inside.

gopaldev 02-09-2009 08:26 PM

What? Genesis with Peter Gabriel performed and it was 1973?!?! hehe just kidding. I didn't catch the show but heard the legendary Stevie Wonder performed...and was accompanied by the Chipmunks...what a sad state the world is in on all fronts! hehehe

Surell 02-09-2009 08:27 PM

I dunno I like Wayne.

khfreek 02-09-2009 09:07 PM

It's sad that Lil Wayne probably would have won best album if Robert Plant hadn't.

I would have put 10 bucks on Coldplay if someone had offered it. Plant/Krauss caught me so off guard. I wonder how many of the 700 or so voters actually listened to that album instead of just looking at the names...

Piss Me Off 02-10-2009 05:17 AM

I quite enjoyed Robert Plant's performance, Radiohead were great and Al Green can still hit those notes. Apart from that it was standard award show crap.

MIA performing on her due date though, props to that!

TheBig3 02-10-2009 07:42 AM

Do people know its easy to mock the grammys or are you all lazy with no original ideas?

When something is clearly thrown in celebration of the commercial as opposed to the artistic, we should say "well it was what is was, however..."

And if you thought this Grammy award show sucked, you clearly haven't seen many. This was one of the best ones. The fact that Radiohead played was a monster step.

I actually thought that that was a bit unnecessary. Isn't that a bit risky doing that? Like what if she goes in to labor right there or something? It just didn't seem like a good idea in my eyes.

TheBig3 02-10-2009 08:37 AM

If in the 3 minutes she was on stage she managed to **** out a kid it would do wonders for her, the kid, and the grammys.

Dac old boy, danger is what pussies say to keep their lives nice and boring. Its time you pull out the polearms and went to war my friend.

Just some of my ramblings on the Grammys, not to be taken too seriously :-)

So last night, flicking through the channels on TV and passing over such gems as America's Next Top Model, Friends repeats (on E4, where else?) and 'Today You Die' a wonderfully titled Steven Seagal vehicle (I reckon that Seagal should team up with Jason Statham to play his father in the inevitable Transporter 4: The Last Crusade but that's another story), I finally settled on the Grammy Awards 2009. The signs of what I was about to endure were there from the outset, I should have flicked back to Steven Seagal when I was welcomed to the event with Bono thrusting at the camera and singing something about boots. The sound was terrible, the song even worse, yet, there I remained, in the hope that at least, it couldn't get any worse...

Over the next hour I regrettably endured more and more than any sane person could possibly bare. Coldplay duetting with Jay-Z (so down with the kids!), Miley Cyrus who looks like she's taking a **** when she sings/whines, winners thanking everyone under the sun from their Great, Great, Great, Great dead (obviously) Grandfather to the lollypop ladies who helped them across the road safely when they were a child. JT trying to sing with his tongue up Al Green's arse and if that wasn't enough, when Duffy presented an award with Al Green, she nearly orgasmed (fake on of course) when he sung half a line of 'Moon River'. Sure, he was great 40 years ago but a shaky warble from an old man is not that amazing. This, I think was my main problem with the whole affair, it was just all as fake as the Duffgasm. All beaming white teeth and suck-up comments.

And I thought Whitney Houston was off the smack?? When presenting an award she seemed so spaced out and came across like she wanted an applause after every two or three words. Maybe stringing a sentence together is an achievement for her.

Of course, how is this any different to the countless other award shows and previous Grammys and why am I ranting about it? Well it isn't, I just had a spare half hour to talk about this one :-)

Needless to say once Stevie Wonder teamed up with the Jonas Brothers I could not take anymore! I pulled the plug and went to bed kicking myself for not watching 'Today You Die'.

Epic. I loved it haha. I don't think the Jonas Brothers had any idea how much of an honor it would be to play with Stevie Wonder... He was such a huge influence on music but the Jonas Brothers probably were thinking "Damn this old man is lucky to be playing with us!"
In three years I think they will be gone and NOBODY will remember them. Hopefully.

God, that just made me want to kick babies.

Carter 3 was actually a good album. Also, it's Plant and Krauss. You make it sound like Zeppelin vs. Wayne.

I hope I didn't because Raising Sand was awful IMO. I couldn't care less who wins between that and Tha Carter III.

TheBig3 02-11-2009 07:26 AM

I need to know why though, because there was nothing "awful" about it.

khfreek 02-11-2009 07:28 AM

I guess I'm just feeling jaded that it won, it's mediocre for me. Nothing interesting really.

mr. goth glam 02-11-2009 10:23 AM

I don't think I've ever really cared about The Grammys, though I do remember thinking Rick Moranis should have won for The Agoraphobic Cowboy.

And I was pleased when Warren Zevon got a few for The Wind.

In Rainbows, definitely. If not that, then Coldplay, as I can understand the appeal even if I don't like it. Then, much further down the ladder, is Tha Carter III and Raising Sand. Ne-Yo's album is on the very bottom.

TheBig3 02-11-2009 08:02 PM

Radiohead. Shocking. You know, I'd give radiohead more credit if I didn't create their entire catalouge 6 years ago when I crossed some wires in my computer speakers.

The thing about Raising Sand was that it was an amazing reinterpertation. They took a collection of songs from a different areas and reinvented them to fit a mood. That was some of the best music I've heard last year.

It's all my dad listens to since he got a hold of it, and I just found it so bland...

lucifer_sam 02-11-2009 08:57 PM

Compared to the last thirty-five years of Robert Plant's output it's a fucking gem.

I actually liked Allison Krauss before this; she has a fantastic voice and collaborated on one of my favorite soundtracks ever, O Brother Where Art Thou.

I really have to listen to In Rainbows. I'll never get Coldplay. I'd put Lupe before them. I'm really surprised Wayne got on Best Album but he didn't. They're both great.
