@Sam - before this? so you don't like her now?

Eyerolls equate to me thinking you took a very easy, unintelligent shot at RH. You could have done better. And you'll be happy to know my father's favorite artist is Kenny Chesney.

TheBig3 02-12-2009 10:44 AM

We can't be right all the time, though KC gives Boston love.

Unintelligent? have you heard kid a? Its an abortion.

Radiohead would get a fair shake if the folks running around, like Gwenyth, didn't think they were Jesus.

Radiohead:snobs::Reagan:Republicans.

All I was saying was that you took a very uncreative shot at RH, no need to overreact.

i am not a fan of the Grammy's at all but like Big3 said it was definitely one of the best, the stole a page out of the CMA's playbook and made it more of a concert and got the awards out of the way quickly. With the popularity of HD this is exactly what all awards shows should be doing.

I tuned in to maybe watch a couple of awards and ended up watching the whole thing, I can say that I don't own any albums by any of the artist's that performed but was entertained anyway.

In short: I got what I paid for

The only performance I didn't like was Katy Perry just because she sounded awful, although her bouncing breasts kept me entertained

Pornographie Nouveau 02-12-2009 03:58 PM

I found out Cornelius could've won an obscure grammy. Although I wasn't big on that particular album, I like one of his early ones, so now i'm kind of disappointed.

TheBig3 02-12-2009 04:06 PM

Don't overreact?

Listen, your favorite act is the nesting ground to a large population of ****s.

I can't fathom the the level of arrogance some ass would need to beleive that Radiohead got a raw deal on the Grammys. They get absolutly lauded with praise by every exclusionary hipster **** who thinks music is something that matters, and that their taste is better.

Honestly, every magazine on the planet is in the bag for these guys, and the one show thats notably going to be slanted against them, what do you all do? You throw a ****ing tantrum.

I hold out hope that in 5 years you folks realize that there is some godless incest of social acceptence in the music world where guys like Ryan Adams and their gap-loving, douche attitude are somehow the precedent by which we all strive.

For a clarification, I have not yet begun to overreact. I am going to invade you disgusting, unwashed hippie commune and set fire to your pile of hash. Then I'm going to plant a banner that says "Melody" on it and leave some Kings of Convenience albums around.

When I've finally exterminated the pestilence that is Radiohead fandom I'm going to write a memoir called "Yes, you most definitly were wrong" and it will hit the stands in paperback.

Akira 02-12-2009 04:08 PM

^^More of this, please

khfreek 02-12-2009 04:16 PM

I like how you're taking a shot at hipster Radiohead fans that think they have better taste than everyone else (or so you think), and then turn around and say that RH fans are wrong to like their music. You need to get over the fact that you don't get their music, though I can imagine hearing so much praise for a band you hate must be pretty grating.

When I say "get", I didn't mean intellectually. I mean you don't have the same taste.

MURDER JUNKIE 02-12-2009 04:28 PM

I'm not really sure which I hate more:

The Douchey Band

or

The Douchey Fans

If Radiohead wants to impress me I want them to do a cover of "Strutter" by KISS and release it on their next album

Then and only then I will revoke their douche status

All this because I rolled my eyes at a poor joke? I have a feeling that this was built up for a while...

Anyways I was not complaining over the fact that RH should have won; I was complaining over the fact that Plant-Krauss won. I said that Coldplay deserved it over them, and I didn't even like Viva La Vida. Where is this "tantrum" you speak of? Also I am not a hippie nor do I have a "pile of hash."

That one was actually pretty funny.

leroy99 02-12-2009 07:21 PM

I actually like the Plant/Krauss album......and Radiohead are way too cool for the grammys anyway

Did someone pee in your cheerios today?
You really need to stop treating music like it's a war and that people are out to get you all the time.
chillllllll.

I thought about being boring once but I thought to myself, I didn't show up on an internet forum to say what I liked and stand around looking at people.

JJJ567 02-13-2009 10:52 AM

I have the Plant/Krauss album on my computer and haven't bothered listening to it yet. I'm in the "Radiohead should have won" boat but I knew it wouldn't happen.

Pornographie Nouveau 02-13-2009 11:01 AM

Radiohead bore the **** out of me.

Plant/Krauss album is bleh.

spark10036 02-13-2009 06:36 PM

Raising Sand is a great album imo, and i'm glad it won a few awards...as for the other awards they just left me unimpressed...

Womanboogie 02-17-2009 04:58 AM

Worst way to spend 3 1/2 hours.
So few highlights.
Mostly lowlights.
Thanks to Radiohead and that band as well as Adele winning Best
New Artist.
No thanks to Coldplay or MIA and the Swagga Like Us pack.

Surell 02-17-2009 08:02 PM

That's a good pack you're talking about there.

Davey Moore 02-18-2009 03:10 PM

I caught the Taylor Swift performance with Miley and I was actually surprised. When I heard Taylor Swift had such a high selling album I just assumed she was a **** American Idol type clone. The song she sang was sort of mature in a mellow, folksy way. Of course, Miley had to **** it up.

Maybe I just have horrible taste but I saw a glimmer of potential in Taylor, judging by the acoustic thing she did.

She just looked better by comparison ;)

Miley's man voice and utter lack of talent left TS looking like a star.

Shoe 02-20-2009 04:19 AM

Taylor actually got where she is through trying hard. Miley just has a famous dad and Disney channel contract.

Farfisa 02-20-2009 09:12 AM

If you are with the disney channel... no doubt you'll be famous.

Jay stank, Kanye stank, Wayne stank. The only star? T.I. of course.
His verse on it is the best, plus he looked better than the rest.
Oh, and effyouseekay Kanye's fullet.
Tonight I was finally convinced he is just under Wayne in terms of
insanity.

No, I was talking about the songwriting actually, but it is a good point, Taylor Swift is pretty cute as well.

What the...? They're all miles ahead of T.I.

Surell 02-21-2009 10:48 AM

TI's good, yeah, but better than Jay Z? Nah. Kanye's not better than any three of them though. Creative in his beats and sometimes in his lyrics, yes, but just not as good. I feel Wayne has more creative lyrics most of the time, as in word play and whatnot. That's how I feel about Wayne in general, really, though.

TheBig3 02-21-2009 11:48 AM

Kanyes a polarizing figure. I think he's better than Wayne and T.I., he's clearly not as good as Jay-Z.

Surell 02-21-2009 12:19 PM

Kanye is creative, but his lyrics are alright. Beats are better.

FaSho 02-21-2009 05:53 PM

Jay ows all, but T.I. used to be really good, His first too albums were f*cking brilliant, but Paper Trail is just really really boring, with no creative lyrics whatsoever.

Terrible Lizard 02-21-2009 06:07 PM

T.I. has always been mediocre, Jay has been washed up for a while now, and Lil' Wayne can only rap in the minds of 14-17 year old white girls.

Oh and Kanye is a pop artist. Always has been, always will be.

The cat has left the ****ing bag.

Kanye has always been an average lyricist. He's been getting worse each release. But I do like his first 2 albums.

gopaldev 02-21-2009 07:09 PM

The Grammys (and other big award ceremonies) are just the various industry's heads getting together and having a party, patting each other on the back. Although it must be cool to win and be accepted by the elite, and the resulting attention very useful, the awards shouldn't be considered any kind of real benchmark as to what is hip or artistic. These selection committees are all so narrow-minded and just focus on putting together a show that will have high ratings, not necessarily great content. Oscars, Emmys, etc...all the same.

Three Six Mafia is so thug.

HolidayG1 02-22-2009 02:26 PM

That is true, gopal. Though I think the Academy Awards have gotten it a lot more right than the Grammys, in terms of nominating/awarding works that were big critical hits and garnered decent acclaim. I mean, Celine Dion not only was nominated or, but won Album of the Year at one time. Then again, it doesn't say it
s *Best* Album of the Year, so...

Just one example of many through the years. It's getting better, but lots to make up for.
