51st Grammy Awards
find out how your favorite band did\

Mars Volta fans rejoice!

Shoe 02-08-2009 08:30 PM

What happened with mars volta that I missed?? And I just saw Radiohead play 15 Step. Great stuff.

sweet_nothing 02-08-2009 08:31 PM

Or just hear it from the horses mouth
(the little trophy next to the name means the winner)

Alfred 02-08-2009 08:33 PM

shit son, i didn't think of that

sweet_nothing 02-08-2009 08:35 PM

Its ok, now you know. AND KNOWING IS HALF THE BATTLE. (But i'm not quite sure what the othe half is)

Alfred 02-08-2009 08:39 PM

So about The Mars Volta, big lol at the others in their category, but at the same time, it's a little surprising that they won.

So how do you feel about Coldplay and Radiohead's results sweet_nothing?

FireInCairo 02-08-2009 08:42 PM

Eeeewwww it's all so depressing and wrong, and gross.

Barring Mars Volta, a well deserved win.

Shoe 02-08-2009 08:45 PM

They won?? What the hell is it over? I missed it

sweet_nothing 02-08-2009 08:52 PM

Well I'm not surprised about Coldplay winning alot because theyíve always been a fav band of the Grammys. But I'm sad that Radiohead isnít winning nearly as much as I thought they would. I mean Weezer beating them for video of the year? That alone makes me believe there is a conspiracy against the band. I mean everyone knows the Grammys is just a way for record companies to jerk each other off. Then here comes Radiohead a well known band that bitch slaps its record company by releasing its new album almost entirely on their own. But I am glad they won best Alternative album, if they hadnít won that I was hoping for Beck. But they are against Coldplay for album of the year. Radiohead have lost to them in the past, though I cant understand how thatís possible unless youíre inbred and slow. But I'm hoping Radiohead bitch slaps everyone else there by winning album of the year, if they donít I donít think they ever will. I mean Kid A and Ok Computer amazing albums and In Rainbows though very good isnít as good as those.

dac 02-08-2009 08:58 PM

In Rainbows is a bit more widely accessible than those two though, so that might be a reason... Also that Weezer vid was awful. I just watched every video for that category and they were all better than Weezer's.

Terrible Lizard 02-08-2009 09:03 PM

The Grammy's have always been a steep slope to bull****land.

dac 02-08-2009 09:10 PM

Yeah but everyone still likes to see their favorite artists do well...

johne 02-08-2009 09:13 PM

The show sucks. Only good things were Al Green, but Justin Timberlake and the band behind Al totally messed up the number. They should've let Al just sing. And Mars Volta win was good. Also Daft Punk won 3 Grammys earlier--good for them and their fans. And Radiohead's number was good, of course--I didn't even mind the college band that played with them. If they pull of best album, it might be worth the agony of having to listen to most of the excruciating numbers (though I switched to public broadcasting during most numbers, so I didn't suffer too much).

Meph1986 02-08-2009 09:24 PM

Album of the year goes to.................

Robert Plant & Alison Krauss

dac 02-08-2009 09:27 PM

Awful. That is why no one likes the Grammys. At least give it to fucking Coldplay lol. The Plant/Krauss stuff is SOOOOOO boring.

johne 02-08-2009 09:28 PM

^^^arghh!!! Robert Plant and Alison Krauss...what the...

sweet_nothing 02-08-2009 09:39 PM

What a load of SHIT, this is the 1st and last time I'll ever watch the grammys.

Surell 02-08-2009 10:01 PM

hey carter 3.

lucifer_sam 02-09-2009 12:37 AM

Shit award for shit bands.

Farfisa 02-09-2009 01:21 AM

I never watch the grammys... there's really no reason for me to.

Gavin B. 02-09-2009 01:22 AM

The Grammy Awards are so utterly lame. Who cares about who wins?

They awarded the Best Vocal Performance to Milli Vanilli, a vocal group that couldn't even sing. A how about that unforgettable moment when Jethro Tull won the Grammy for Best Heavy Metal Performance? Lenny Kravitz has won the best male rock performance more times than any other rock singer in history... huh???

Bob Dylan never won a single Grammy award until 1979 when he was 10 years past his prime as a writer and performer.

Elvis Costello has never won a single Grammy for any of his solo albums or his work with the Attractions. Costello's only Grammy win ( only nominated twice in 35 years!) was for a song he collaborated with Burt Bacahrach on from Painted From Memory. I'll bet you can even name the song.

WTF! Do all of those industry types on the nominating committee even bother to listen to performers they nominate?

BLHewitt 02-09-2009 02:15 AM

glad they got bono out of the way real fast. f that noise.

fun show. started a bit odd. seemebd like the rock deviated from his script. ha.

khfreek 02-09-2009 05:12 AM

Knowing that Lil Wayne got a piece in every rap grammy except for the one that involved singing is enough for most people to steer clear in the future, I hope. The Grammy's need to DIE

Demonoid 02-09-2009 06:02 AM

The grammys are a joke anyways...Does winning a grammy actually mean ANYTHING?! (ok, you're record sales might go up a bit, but that's about it)
I don't think I've ever listened to any artist based on the number of 'grammys' they've won. Many around the world might follow it, but then again, the last thing I'd care about is that. Music is more of a personal preference for me. I don't need some stupid award ceremony to tell me whats good and whats not.

simplephysics 02-09-2009 06:03 AM

Who ****ing cares about the grammys

Alfred 02-09-2009 02:18 PM

Yes, most of the choices are crap, but I'm still very happy to see The Mars Volta win. Very well deserved.

TheBig3 02-09-2009 02:49 PM

Raising Sand was amazing and it deserves everything it gets.

khfreek 02-09-2009 02:53 PM

I heard at school that MIA deserved Album of the Year... besides being amused that they hadn't even considered In Rainbows, I was curious who this person was. Are they worth checking out?

sweet_nothing 02-09-2009 02:56 PM

The only reason I cared this year is because 2 of my fav bands were playing and nominated, Radiohead and Coldplay. But since Radiohead was fucked over quite abit last night it's the last time I'll ever watch.

For srs?
Boring sh*t to me. Boring sh*t that beat out a lot more deserving artists.

And what the f*ck was up with Disturbed being nominated for ANYTHING?

khfreek 02-09-2009 03:20 PM

Disturbed is a metal band who has catchy riffs and even catchier chorus melodies, so it would seem to follow that they'd be popular in a culture that doesn't appreciate the creativity that can, and should, be found in metal. That's how I see it anyway.

Is anyone going to tell me about MIA then?

FaSho 02-09-2009 03:24 PM

Get Kala.
You've probably heard Pape rPlanes on the radio.

Alfred 02-09-2009 03:27 PM

I might find that exciting if I was 12 or a girl.

adidasss 02-09-2009 03:43 PM

Isn't it funny how, no matter how hard they try, the Grammies will never achieve the status of the least for the fans. And the artists don't seem to gush as much when they win as they do in the Oscars...amIrite?

lucifer_sam 02-09-2009 04:00 PM

That's because the Grammys are complete bullshit awards that are meant to boost album sales.

adidasss 02-09-2009 04:04 PM

Isn't that kinda like the Oscars? I mean, The reader? Who saw that coming...:\

I didn't want an album name, I wanted an overview. I checked her out... I can't believe people in my age group are so stupid. At least Robert Plant's had musical credibility, even if it was a bit trite.

gunnels 02-09-2009 04:59 PM

I'm not gonna complain about the awards because the people who win them suck every year (save TMV).

But what I want to know is why the F*CK did Stevie perform that...
He should have done something from Innervisions. Or atleast something less synthy. :(
