Blink-182 is back together?!

There are no words for how amazing a day it was to find this out.

I bludgeoned myself in the head in hopes of killing myself when I heard the news.

gopaldev 02-09-2009 08:20 PM

Whatever happened to +44? I only remember hearing 1 single a few years back. Angels and Airwaves seemed to do well for a time.

Surell 02-09-2009 08:28 PM

I'm glad to see Barker alive. He's a cool guy.

Roemilca 02-09-2009 08:33 PM

+44 wasn't all that great. Too... different from what it used to be. AVA (which i don't understand... Angels And Airwaves=AVA?) did well, they had commercial success.

Farfisa 02-09-2009 09:47 PM

*Sigh*, I can tell scenesters are going to be talking about this for months to come.

sleepy jack 02-09-2009 11:09 PM

Scenesters don't like blink-182 nor do pathetic music snobs (see whole thread.)

Blink 182 broke up?

CanwllCorfe 02-10-2009 12:05 AM

I love Blink 182! They're the only pop band that I like. I figure I try and have at least one artist from every genre. ..except Country. .or Rap

Why not country and rap?

I think there's a rule that 50% of all new posters have to say "I like everything except country and rap" in at least one of their first 15 posts.

kelton 02-10-2009 03:18 AM

I personally was super stoked to hear the news. Now, I realize that Blink is not an amazing band as far as music lovers are concerned. Its just one of those bands that I fell in love with in middle school and I still love it. I really think that there is some great potential in those three guys. If you listened to their last release you will notice that it was a huge step away from their really immature lyrics from the previous albums. Also musically it was a lot more interesting and better. So, I am just really excited to see what this album will sound like.

Now, I can honestly understand why a lot of you dont like Blink. However, I dont see why some of you act like its an awful thing that they are back together. I mean you have to take it for what it is. Its pop punk and they are by far the best pop punk band out there.

Guybrush 02-10-2009 03:35 AM

@Janszoon, I'm beginning to notice. :p

About Blink, I think it's a very american genre. That kind of music was never really popular here in Norway at least. I find stuff like NoFX and punk covers of old pop songs quite embarassing ..

No, it means we have to hear how amazing blink is from our annoying friends all over again. Band of our generation, I'm told.

Scenesters?

I'm nothing of the sort.

The band is amazing. =P

Dr_Rez 02-10-2009 09:30 AM

Hey mom there's something in the back room. I Hope it's not the creature from above!

Sneer 02-10-2009 09:36 AM

Absolutely nothing wrong with Blink 182. For what they are/were, which is a straight out Pop Punk band, they were pretty damn good. I'm intrigued by what the next offering will be like

I've just never been interested in it. As for country, I live in the country. It just seems so underwhelming. Oh listen to him sing about fields, I live in the middle of about 7 of them. I also hate the songs about alcohol and parties. I don't like the note range that they stick around either. For some reason there is always a note range I am hoping for before I hear the song. Some examples

Andy Blueman - Nyctalopia
Andy Blueman - Neverland
DJ Shah feat. Adrina Thorpe - Back to You (Aly & Fila Remix)
B. Fleischmann - Static Grate
Radiohead - Motion Picture Soundtrack

I can't really explain it, it just has a heartfelt sound to it. If anyone could help me out, THANK YOU! As for rap, there isn't enough expression, and if there is then it's about stuff I can't really relate to. Come to think of it, both genres have songs about very specific things. Maybe that's why I don't bother with songs that have vocals unless they're in someway cryptic.

There's actually a lot of rap with pretty abstract lyrics.

Not even fanboys... just people who watched too much MTV when they were in their early teens

Roemilca 02-10-2009 12:59 PM

I love them, but they are not talented. They're just fun to listen to, nothing more.

I feel like they might try to rise to our expectations, though.

I don't know, maybe it's just me.

Sneer 02-10-2009 01:38 PM

Well im not expecting a Tago Mago

Arya Stark 02-10-2009 01:39 PM

A what? o.O

khfreek 02-10-2009 01:41 PM

Critically acclaimed Krautrock album for the 70's, guess he's saying he doesn't expect any big changes.

Arya Stark 02-10-2009 01:42 PM

Well that's good.

Haha, you're like my translator. <3

Alfred 02-10-2009 02:03 PM

As much as this is great news, I'm kinda doubting that we're gonna get much more silly pop from Blink 182.

Well.... it's a good thing I never said that

Though I dunno why I would considering it wouldn't be true

Can I be different and say I like everything apart from Heavy Metal (and all of it's multiple subgenres)
And believe me.... I tried listening to it..... and while listening to it I had the strange feeeling that my speakers were going to die....

Iron Maiden makes your speakers die? Hm, never knew. You must be referring to Deathcore, Metalcore, etc.

anticipation 02-10-2009 02:47 PM

stoked, let's just hope they return to making sweet jamz and not resort to that radio bull**** they went out on.

Kiwi22 02-10-2009 03:29 PM

I'm excited to see Blink 182 reunited! I think a lot of it had to do with Travis Barker's near death plane crash... they realized how important their music and friendship really is!

Arya Stark 02-10-2009 03:56 PM

It could be.

Who knows?

>.<

Guybrush 02-10-2009 03:59 PM

Stink one-baby-poo

Arya Stark 02-10-2009 03:59 PM

...So that's how you feel?

Piss Me Off 02-10-2009 04:02 PM

They looked absolutely thrilled at the grammys i must say.

Techinally yeah that is what I mean.....
I could re-phrase it to Heavy Metal AFTER the year 2000 (roughly)

Hahaha I didn't even watch the Grammys.

I found out because of my guitarist.

He knew how happy I would be.

I disagree. Considering the amount of maturity they must have went through between their teens and now, and how the "crawling out of an airplane" thing kinda started the downfall of the band, you never know, they might of as a whole realized some things about life that might be expressed in some very mature lyrics. They said on their site that "friendships were brought back together", obviously they were able to get over what ever caused them to fall apart and who knows, it could mean they're not little kids anymore.

I'm really curious. I don't really like ALL of their stuff - especially because its just ALL immaturity. Listening to their live stuff, they just act like idiots on stage. Okay, i get thats how some bands do it, but it really enhances the immaturity of the fanbase...

The music is really good on some songs. I'm sure if they gave 110% to each song on their new album, it would be an amazing album. Which because they're not currently distracted by the fame and excitement of releasing something right after another (therefore, not really paying attention or giving their all to each song), they might do. I really hope they're not back together for intentions other than creating amazing music. I would like to hear an amazing album from them, something different than before but somewhat the same. I've been listing to them for a little bit, seeing what they were like because I never got on the blink bandwagon (or any bandwagon - except MCR),and really, they're not nearly as "bad" the bands that are immensely popular right now. so I'm giving it a shot.

Coldplay is infinitely better than Blink 182.
