As always getting home from work with beer and a hankerin' for Townes Van Zandt is leading me down my slow, winding, country road to learning more about outlaw and otherwise outsider country from the 60s/70s. On the docket today I reckon is Guy Clark and Gram Parsons, just for a start.

Man, this song always gets to me. It's a song about a prisoner who just wants to go home, who can close his eyes and feel and taste and touch all those things from his youth that felt pure and good, but it's all an illusion because he's too far gone of it for it to be anything more than a beautiful, painful dream.
