Current song: Uninspired

It's impossible to be miserable while listening to Warrior. It's like the ultimate feelgood dance pop album that isn't Disney ****e.

I can never figure out if this is hardcore, post-hardcore, metal, or all three at once. I think the last one and that's awesome. Progression through Unlearning goes hard as ****.

The Batlord 06-11-2017 02:19 PM

But seriously this is the most gloriously dumb song that legit rules ever. Excepting all other ICP songs.

Frownland 06-11-2017 02:22 PM

You should do a review of Kfeds album and see if you can further lower the bar that everyone has set for you.

I would but I'm busy touching myself to my avatar.

The Great Milenko has gone up and down for me. Loved it when I first bought it years ago, got tired of its more pop edge than their earlier albums, and now its manic energy grabs me by the balls again. This **** bounces like titties.

lol I actually dig that song musically but cringe every time I hear that part.

Frownland 06-12-2017 10:51 PM

I've heard this version of C'mon Everybody before, so not sure how "lost" these recordings are but cool still.

Frownland 06-12-2017 11:50 PM

I think this might be my favourite song ever. It's been close to the top for a long, long time.

At the kind advisement of a musical friend, I'm exploring their recommended listening and readings of early music, Hildegard of Bingen, Plainsong, Ars antiqua, Ars nova, and Ars subtilior.

This is the first installment of several crash courses he's penned exploring music history.

The Batlord 06-13-2017 06:39 PM

I'd say ICP were my fav hip hop group by a pretty large margin, but not for the same reasons that I enjoy hip hop in general. Their later **** illustrates this pretty well as they were at times hip hop in name only. From 1999 and on I'd say they were almost a hip hop-derived pop band tbh.

I mean this right here might have some incompetent rapping, but it was actually quite a step down from their 90s material and obviously intentional to make a more pop-oriented sound that they put just as much energy into.

I might be into SOAD more if Serj's dad fronted them, he's great. Serj is just too...practiced? Ingenuine? The right way to word it isn't coming to me right now, but it really comes out in the part where he takes the lead.

I thought I was done with ICP but now I'm in some of the ol' school **** and not about to give it up anytime soon. I seriously don't know why I connect with this **** so hard while also knowing how ridiculous it is. They just have a delivery and an atmosphere that just captures me.

And so this is somehow brilliant to me.

It's because it's so incredibly entertaining. This is kind of weird way to put it and I think you would have to be a fan to get what I mean but listening to ICP is more like a VISUAL experience than any other band I've ever heard. I don't just mean storytelling imagery either.

Nah definitely. They're so expressive that I can't help but picture them at all times, and their more theatrical, pomp rap **** just about gives me closed-eye visuals.
