I'm worried that I'm gonna burn myself out on ICP like back in the day when I went off them hard for like two years, but till then I can't shake them.

I was going to spin Jimmy Cauty's Space (KLF Communications SPACE LP 1), but this is my birthday eve... I have the house to myself... and the mood calls for something a little bolder.
Now spinning: This is Not What Space is About, limited edition Recovered & Remastered X-NINE - an epic 2-disc expanded exploration of Cauty's ambient vision. Greetings, fellow travelers. It's a beautiful night. http://i.imgur.com/Mhlmtabl.jpg |

As an ICP* and Wu-Tang fan I figure it's high time I grok this ****. For those who don't know it's RZA's horrorcore side project from between Wu's first and second albums. Sounds closer to 36 Chambers, but just cause it's more old school, with a darker, more atmospheric production. Seems pretty sweet atm and "Gravedigga! Nigga!" is a pretty great two words.
*There is zero connection between this and ICP other than some violent lyrics. |

I remember Stetsasonic and De La Soul as they happened so Gravediggaz was really surprising at first. If you go through all the sonic soundscapes RZA created and then what he inspired he should be on every top five all time hip hop lists. Listening to: Mary Halvorson & Noël Akchoté The Free Jazz Collective: Mary Halvorson & Noël Akchoté (s/r, 2016) **** |
