Been on a Carcass kick recently. I know Heartwork doesn't get all that much love on this site, but you bitches are crazy. This is simply one of the best and most unique extreme metal albums of all time. I've heard fifty million death metal albums by now, and no matter how good they are, they generally don't stray too much from whatever formula they aspire to without going into weird territory. This album is pure brutality, but is still one of the most unique albums of it's kind I've ever heard. Simple, to the point, doesn't get mired down in technical wankery, savage, but with a polish and accessibility that most death metal bands are too scared to go anywhere near.

Maruosa—"Lack of Oxygen"
Having a shitty day? This will make you feel better. Sounds like a giant came along and shook a whole city out like a rug and everything from subways trains to skyscrapers to porno shops came tumbling out in a huge ball of chaos, and that is good.

Han Bennink - Spooky Drums

As a guitarist, it's a bit hard for me to appreciate drums, but this is fantastic. Bennink's work with Peter Brotzmann led me to this, and I'm not disappointed.

rollicking guitars everywhere, cool lyrics, fast paced (with well placed rocking chair moments, to be sure)...this is a record with some ballz and is very fun to listen to...I'm hard pressed to find a bad moment...

the record has me thinking of some of the good moments from Queens of the Stone Age and Foo Fighter debuts, but with a bit more courage, muscle and a better sound...and believe it or not the track Oscillation is highly reminiscent of Pioughd era Butthole Surfers
