Raust 05-24-2011 05:24 AM

Great tune, great album.

We had to listen to this in class last year when I studied Lebanese/Syrian dialect, but it grew on me :) It's actually pretty great

Very accomplished solo guitar-playing! His playing reminded me just a little of...

Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover
about whom a YouTube fan wrote, "His amazing precision and guitar mastery just made my bowels explode all over my living room..."

Half decent song but there are far more beautiful songs out there. Actually that does sound a little pompous.

There are many comparable songs out there that you may not have heard which you would almost certainly like.

TBH, that was the only thing where any skill and melodic composition and structure was well thought out - if you have heard the album it came from, Ah Via Musicom, the other songs are Police rip-offs and/or noodling, with only one other stand-out song - Steve's Boogie - a rockabilly tune

you'd be better off with Danny Gatton (RIP) - that was a true guitar genius

aka "Loss"

didn't get into it that much when I got it cos I wasn't in a classical phase

now I really love the entire album

Raust 05-25-2011 09:37 AM

MMU reminded me of how much I love Beefheart.

Howard the Duck 05-25-2011 09:40 AM

they're mostly remembered for the cult Odessey & Oracle generated but people usually forget they were a great British Invasion band as well

Beefheart deserves another video...

EDIT:

And... another.

I'm by no means a Black Metal expert, but I've heard my fair share. And I can safely say that Sar is the most brutal, emotionally affecting album I've heard within the genre. It's darker than dark. Early pioneers of the Depressive/Suicidal Black Metal off-shoot apparently, figures.

Howard the Duck 05-25-2011 11:33 PM

bestest gay anthem ever?

Just reminded on how awesome Lateralus is.

I think some of you raised in the 90's might know where this song is from.

lol he ****ing hates that song now and anytime someone asks him to do the dance, he gets all pissy.

One time I went through the mall and asked random people if they liked Tom Jones and if they were puzzled as to who he was, I would start singing that song and doing the carlton dance.

I think I did it because my friends were ragging on me and saying that I was dressed up like him.

Thank you for the suggestion. I listened to Danny Gatton - "Funky Mamma" and I'd definitely say he plays well although the style of this song isn't my thing. It's like peppy elevator music to me. :/ But he certainly played what he played with great confidence and skill.
