I've listened to other Kendrick albums, but this is my first time with TPAB. My interest had been flagging for a while, but this track finally made me turn it off. All of those gimmicky voices he does vary from tedious to downright annoying, and his normal voice is kind of cringey at times too. The instrumentals are pretty cool though.

Ten years ago today, the Arctic Monkeys released their sophomore album Favorite Worst Nightmare. In Japan of course, but still weird to think that this thing came out when I was only 8.

You should listen to jazz poetry for big boys.

This has been relentlessly stuck in my head all week. It keeps replaying and driving me insane. I enjoy it in a creepy way. It makes me think of Michael Myers nonchalantly walking after someone and knowing where they are wherever they go and the helpless feeling they get of knowing he's going to brutally murder them. Good times.

There was a tiny, dusty used bookshop in Westchester county called The Bruised Apple that sold used vinyl as well. Tons of incredible scores there - Silver Apples, Terry Riley, the Grow Fins set... and one day I found The Last Poets on Douglas and gave it a listen having no idea who they were.

Holy **** I bought that record.

This album is the perfect combo of punk energy and fun, and hardcore brutality. Sick of It All are kind of the Overkill of hardcore punk, in that they change their sound between releases only enough to make them not redundant, but don't really put out bad albums or run out of steam. They're just committed to kicking insane amounts of ass in pretty much the same way they always have. If they weren't neanderthal NYHC types I imagine they'd get way more respect.

That's my least favorite on the album but TPAB is still #6 GOAT for me.

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

I reserve the right to change my opinion after only a half-listen, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say nah.

Listen to Institutionalized, Hood Politics, i, and Complexion. And maybe Mortal Man. If you don't like any of those tracks, you probably won't like it. This album was probably the biggest grower of any other for me, as I went into it as an elitist punk rocker and came out liking a mainstream rap record. It took listen upon listen to gain appreciation for it when before I despised anything to do with new rap music. I found it gimmicky as hell until I really saw the genius in it. Still, it's not for everyone I guess. But it's pretty damn important to me, personally.
