Some random ones I really enjoy

The Yardbirds - Mr. Saboteur
Joy Division - Twenty Four Hours
Syd Barrett - Here I Go
The Pop Group - Words Disobey Me
Blur - Strange News From Another Star
Nick Cave - Watching Alice
Beatles - Won't Be Long
Dead Kennedys - Kill The Poor
Talking Heads - What A Day That Was
Telescopes - Violence

I don't pick songs individually though. I listen to an album(s) of the same band 3/4 times and just get immersed the sound.

I've seriously never come across a Nirvana song (or cover) that I didn't like. With the possible exceptions of the original "Fecal Matter" Spank Thru demo and Moist Vagina.

The Pogues - Blue Heaven
David Bowie - Like a Rolling Stone
Morcheeba - Shoulder Holster
Cindy Scott - I Love You Baby
Faith No More - Everything's Ruined
I was actually gonna put both of those on there, Electricity is feckin sweet. I love Beefheart's growl on it. Halleluwah is great too, probably my second favorite track off Tago Mago.

I could spend ten years locked in a cell with only those two songs on CD for company - I just never get bored of them. It's all about the tribal rhythms in Halleluwah and that psychotic kind of blues sound Beefheart captures with Electricity. Love 'em to bits.
