By 'as far as you can' mean until you reach a year and you say well, I haven't got a favourite album for that.

For example, someone might not have a favourite album from the year 2000, do they carry on or end it at 2001?

Either way, it seems like a good idea, I'll try and do one when I can be bothered.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

I've added the constraint that I can list each artist only once. 1955 is as far back as I can go... I like jazz but I'm not a huuuuge fan and mainly stick to the big guns (so that constraint ruins me). And my knowledge of any other kind of music around that period is appalling.

Gah what the hell, that should be 1989 but I prefer Mother's Milk in that year anyway so goodbye Stone Roses. Well spotted

1981 is impossible, far too many to choose from... I'll give it to Wipers - Youth Of America. Hmm, maybe I'll change 1984 from the Replacements to Maiden? And I also notice I left question marks for 1973 because I didn't know which Gong album to choose
