Faith No More and RHCP more than effectively killed that genre.

unfortunately spawning a legion of copycat, hilariously poor funk metal acts in their wake. but you can't hold that against them.

What's with this forum and the Nirvana hate? I've grown to accept it but dang is it hard to find somebody who is a big fan of them but also open to other areas of music.

It's either hatred or ass-licking fandom

And the picture is a little offensive.. I'm not saying that because I'm some sort of "worshipper" of Kurt Cobain, but mocking anybody's death is just plain distastful to me.

Like I said, I don't think any ONE band is responsible. I think it was Time Magazine that ran an article saying that Radiohead is what Nirvana would have been had Cobain not offed himself. Now every time Nirvana is mentioned I get this picture in my head of Cobain with randomizers and dancing along to a drum machine and just laugh my ass off.

I've never heard of either of those 3 bands, but just giving a brief look at their wikipedia pages, they all seem to have the thing in common that they all have jam and progressive stuck somewhere within the list of genres used to describe them, and they all play a variety of genres. They look like pretty good bands, just judging from the variety of music they play.

i don't hate them. i find their music dull and their fans infuriating (especially the younger, more impressionable ones), hence the spot on the list.

and as for the pic, i honestly couldn't find an appropriate pic for the idiots themselves, if i do run across one in future travels i'll be sure to edit it.

It's funny how some people label me as both a Nirvana fanboy and a prog fan who only values music for the technical skill involved.

Interesting how that works.

But then again, my favorite Nirvana stuff is from these rare bootlegs that nobody else has, it features a 40 minute prog metal epic, which has one of the most jaw dropping neo classical shred solos you'll ever hear.

Yeah. They deserve credit for that.

Unfortunately, they also deserve credit for bringing us Creed and Nickelback.

But nobody's legacy is perfect.

I love the flute intro on that track. Who knew Krist Novoselic could blow like that?
