Hipster basically just means the most obscure, godawful lo fi, twee pop, hardcore or post punk spawned abominations that Pitchfork can find and call the best thing to ever happen to music, until more than 12 people have heard of it and then it's crap.

Tbf to Pitchfork actually they do review a variety of things that you'd be surprised they would, i saw a glowing review of Phantom Limb by Pig Destroyer on there a while back and i'd hardly describe them as a 'hipster band' at all, so i wouldn't be surprised if they'd reviewed more hardcore than simply The Chemistry Of Common Life.
