Wow this is really hard, there's so many choices if I could start in 1998. Mice Parade is unique and original, and their discography is diverse so they're always fun to listen to. Dalek is ****ing great, same with DOOM. However, all of these artists formed in 1998.

For the last 10 years, my personal favorites (not considering best in terms of influence or popularity:

Animal Collective
Dirty Elegance put out two fantastic albums
Alias is dank
Defiance, Ohio
Gorillaz
School of Seven Bells (though they've only released one album)
The Shins
The Unicorns kicked ass, they weren't around long but they were damn good.

As for Mit Gas, I'd say it's definitely worth checking out again, mr dave. It took me a few listens to start getting into it. I've not listen to Anonymous too much, so I just downloaded it. And Fantomas - another album? I can't wait. Their work reminds me of no other. Patton surely gets overrated, but let's face it - the man is kind of a genius.
relax hahaha 'mit gas' was the first tomahawk album i bought. just because i don't think it's as great as the other two doesn't mean i think it's not good hehe. my initial comment in regards to the band almost falling flat was a reflection of the fact that the 2nd disc doesn't expand much on the 1st and had the 3rd been another 'rock' disc then the band would really just be another leftover alt-rock supergroup in my eyes, instead they pulled hard on the wheel and took off in a completely different direction after basically releasing a repeat.

as for crank2, sidewinder totally sums it up. i think statham was perfect for the role. then again i was also thoroughly entertained by terminator 3, once you stop giving a crap about how a movie is sold to the public and just watch it for how you see it, things improve significantly. T3 = parody. crank2 = mindless action. statham = mindless action hero.

i didn't see the first movie either, don't think it really mattered.

Gotta confess, I'm not a huge fan of Mike Patton or Fat Freddy's Drop. I have never listened to Tomahawk though, maybe they're good. As for Fat Freddy's Drop, they're decent but lots of people here seem to be in love with them. Not me.

Old Time Relijun.

And yes I know they formed in 1995. The title of the thread was best bands to come out in the last 10 years, not form in the last 10 years.

I've always wondered about them. What do they sound like? I know Phil Elvrum from the Microphones was the drummer, do they sound anything like his stuff?

Unicorns/Islands
Fiery Furnaces
The Shins
Air France

One of those. I think Air France has made the most amazing music, but so far they've only released two EPs worth of music, so that makes them a tougher pick.

I have to say I'm astonished that we've gone 8 pages and I'm the only person who's mentioned Liars in this thread.
