.....I guess these guys are the same kooks who think affirmative action oppresses the white race and who think the slightest advantage for black people is equivalent to the 300 years of oppression they had to endure. I'm glad Creed were always terrible anyways.
Amen.

Ahem... The Sex Pistols song wasn't nessicarily anti-abortion. At least it wasn't written with that intent. I believe it was about a mentally disturbed woman that Lydon knew who would describe getting pregnent and having abortions in detail... and I'm pretty sure Lydon has said he doesn't have a stance on the debate.

Conservatives are generally anti-tax too. The difference between libertarians and conservatives is on social issues.

Creed is bad, but your argument is even worse.

....how so? I'm guessing since it's a conservative song, it probably has something to do with something like affirmative action and how white conservatives are at a disadvantage somehow: "why hold down one to raise another/discrimination now on both sides". They never complained when that institutional racism was turned towards blacks and was much more severe.

I know it's a generalization, but I think I'm correct for the most part. Maybe creed didn't mean what I think they did, but I don't like the conservative guys interpretation of it and what it probably says about them.

Heh. Ironically it's also the color of the republican party in the US.

Rush Limbaugh said when he was on the NFL pregame show that Donovan McNabb was an overrated quarterback because people wanted to see a black quarterback succeed in the NFL... needless to say, that was his last appearance there.
This just seemed like the right place to put this. And that list was funny, he completely misrepresented a bunch of those songs.

And yes, ironically enough, he did relate a lyric about a tyrant to the color red, which when talking about politics makes me think of the Republican party and a bunch of fat old white men that are red from yelling about how Obama is going to run America into the ground.

My point is that he cannot assume that it is conservative simply by it being anti-tax.

(Disclosure: I'm a libertarian.)

To put it mildly, Miller was stretching the definition of 'conservative'. I thought his suggestion of 'Godzilla' was hilarious, though. I can just see Rush Limbaugh and Cal Thomas doing the Godzilla Stomp!

I once put together a playlist for a Republican friend:

1. My Kingdom - Megadeth; Dave quotes gun-guru Jeff Cooper: "No man who is false can win in combat against the truth". There's also the line "I am given the right to bear arms...". Dave also sounds pretty pro-God on this song, with Eucharistic imagery.
2. Blackmail the Universe - Megadeth; Dave says nuke the Middle East: "Awaken those sleeping giants in the dust of the earth!" At least it could be interpreted that way.
3. United Abominations -Megadeth; very anti-U.N. song; There's also the line: "Only fools really stand up and lay down their arms. No, not me while death lasts forever."
4. Amerikastan - Megadeth; I can imagine D*** Cheney listening to this song and chuckling evilly.
5. Reign of Terror - Sabaton; praising Gulf War I
6. Panzer Battalion - Sabaton; praising Gulf War II
7. Counterstrike - Sabaton; The song takes the side of Israel in the 6 Day War, appealing to religious conservatives.
8. Purple Heart - Sabaton; praises veterans
9. Don't Tread on Me - Metallica; peace through strength
10. Red, White, and Blue - Judas Priest; kind of patriotic
11. United - Judas Priest; same as above.
12. Rooster - Alice in Chains; sympathetic treatment of a Vietnam veteran

Yes, it relies heavily on Megadeth and Sabaton. I might have thrown in something by Rush, but Geddy Lee sings like a girl.

I'm a bit surprised no one has snarkily suggested a NSBM band.

I missed this before. I guess it's inevitable that this thread would turn out to spawn a political argument, though I suppose I'm equally guilty. I've never heard the Creed song in question, I just know that the argument for discrimination based on race is non-sensical.
