The Shins seem to me the definition of flat and bland indie pop. They are quite dull.

No, they're just soft. Nothing wrong with that, just some people don't like soft music.

Not agreeing with the Arcade Fire hate going on here, or The Shins for that matter. like Tuna said:

Worst band of the decade?
...Black Eyed Peas (well group not band but nevermind)

I've never listened to anything I couldn't turn off quick enough but found it with them. Even worse once Fergie shrieked herself into the already below par group. Producing some of the most repetitively nonsensical music ever, they get my vote.

I don't like Arcade Fire, but you can do a lot worse when it comes to the bottom of the barrel this last decade. For example...

I can't believe the first nomination in this thread was the Twang, I can understand them not being everyone's cup of tea but surely there have been worse bands for everyone?

Without a shadow of a doubt its the Kaiser chiefs.

We have them to blame for the likes of scouting for girls and the pigeon detectives. They have no artistic merit whatsoever and half their songs consist of shouting ooooooooooohhhhhhhhhh down the mic.

Absolutely dreadful

I can understand not liking them (well, not really, but whatever) but I can't really think of any songs where these bands resort to just screaming...

Southern hip-hop has made this decade particularly hellish also, take your pick really
I agree somewhat here, they try to sound to cynical in there lyrics with topics that include religion, politics. To me a band that trys too hard to be rebelious is a turn off. I can't stand the lead singer.

Well I mean, Arctic Monkeys kind of suck.
