my 4-year old nano was one of the cheaper old models when i bought it, and it still works poifictly. It has more than enough memory for long coach journeys, long battery life, you barely even notice it in your pocket (all those years walking around with CD walkmans stuffed in coat pockets, i would have killed for something like this)... so you can go about your business without having to listen to the inane blabber of jukebox/iphone/blackberry/shuffle-wielding muppets

why on earth would you have more than one unless by accident? and why would you have anything bigger than a nano unless on a long haul flight perhaps? these things are like sports cars. the age of plenty (arse)

Ive got 2 iPod's 2 of which are broken. I have a 2nd generation nano 4gb which is beyond repair, and is why I got a 16gb iPod touch which was in my suitcase and my shampoo bottle burst, and got into my iPod, and its been getting repaired since the 28th of september... Still haven't got it back. Postal strike. I'm going insane :(

I've got three. I've still got the Diamond Rio PMP300 that I bought in 1998 (with a capacious 32MB worth of memory) on a shelf, a battered Goodmans MP3 diskman that I bought a year later and this little 2GB 'no brand' thing that I've had for about 5 years now that is never out of my coat pocket.

The latter is probably one of the best things I've ever bought as it was really cheap and it's just plug-in USB and 'drag and drop' - which I greatly prefer - rather using any kind of software or docking mechanism. It's rare that I need to listen to it for any more than a couple of hours at a time so I can't see the sense in getting something with a humongous drive and, for the length of time it takes to drag a few albums across, it's hardly a genuine inconvenience. Besides, I'm normally brushing my teeth and putting my shoes on anyway so it's not like I'm sat there glowering at the screen and drumming my fingers on the desk impatiently.

i love having a huge amount of music with me. my 30gig is always full, and i wish it were bigger. i never know what i'll be in the mood to listen to when i hop on the tram to go to work, so i need to be prepared for anything!

I upgraded from a 4GB nano to a 120 gig iPod a few months ago. I probably didn't need a new one but I was getting tired of having to delete music every time I added something new. Now I can sync without worrying about that.

I have a 4GB Samsung that I absolutely love, but it just doesn't have enough space on it. So I "upgraded" to a 30GB Zune, which still doesn't have enough space on it, and it's a bitch to load music on. Takes forever to sync with the computer, and sometimes the Zune program just decides it doesn't like it, and I have to disconnect and reconnect it multiple times to get it to recognize it.

If Samsung made a player with more capacity, I would buy it in a heart beat. Best MP3 player I ever had, and you could load music on it from any computer that had WMP.

I had a 4GB nano that I loved dearly but one day, under great frustration, I yelled "why can't you hold more songs, you stupid thing?!?!" and I tossed it onto my bed. When I came home later that evening it was gone and I haven't seen it since. :(

I don't know about other people, but I like to keep my music on my 120 GB as a backup should something happen to my external hard drive. Lets say I download a malicious virus that wipes out my hard drive, at least this way I've still got a copy of most of my music on my Zune that I can move back to my computer once the problem has been dealt with.

I have my iPhone 3GS 32GB - that thing is my lifeline and I use it constantly. I keep essential playlists on there to listen to in the car or wherever. I also have an iPod Touch 8GB that I mainly use that for video and games (but I might sell it; got it as a gift) and I have a Ipod Classic 120GB that I keep most of my music on - that helps when traveling and you don't want to schlep the laptop around + I may want to recommend a random song for someone at work, it happens. Thinking about an iPod Shuffle for working out, but not in a rush to get one. I follow the cult of Mac... but we also have one PC for video editing that for whatever reason, can't be done on final cut.
