How many iPods or mp3 players do you own?
 

The reason I am asking the question is the result of my desire to buy 2 new iPods in addition to the players I already have. I wanted to know if anyone else own's or desires to own a ridiculous amount of mp3 players. :rolleyes:

Ok, so I already own 3 iPods. I own a 3rd generation nano that I use mostly for pop/dance music. The nano is best for me when I go to the gym, so usually I keep really high energy, uptempo music on it. My second iPod is a 160GB video/classic, which I use for larger files like movies, youtube videos, podcasts, and music videos. The music that I store on that player usually consists of rock'n'roll and full albums, since I have the space. My third iPod is the first generation classic. I don't use it because I've had it for 5 years and it's pretty much crap now, oh well.

So, anyways post what you have and your purpose for it. Like I said I'd like to buy 2 iPods (the 5th generation nano and the lastest iPod touch) which I know is over-the-top but what is life without a little indulgence?:beer:

I have 3 iPods that I don't use. The last one just came free with the laptop.

These last few days, I've been plugging my laptop to my car with a Jack. I grew tired of burning mp3s every week, and I can never squeeze my whole library into these tiny players.

Tho an iPod was essential when I didn't have a car. Now it just doesn't make any sense.

I understand the smaller one for the gym etc. but I can't relate to the need to have to hold your entire library on these devices. I used to have an ipod nano which I gave to my brother and use an 80gb ipod classic. I have much more music than it can hold but I know I'm not in the mood to listen to everything thing on my ipod everyday. I'm fine with taking music off to add others depending on what I'm feeling like listening to.

I have my 120 GB Zune that I use to tune out the world while I walk or drive then I have my slightly broken 2GB Sansa clip that I decided to save for when I get a gym membership after Christmas. There's also a broken iPod shuffle that I somehow managed to turn into a little 1GB hard drive that can't actually play anything. Then there's my long dead 20GB Creative Zen I got back in like 2004. Honestly that was my favourite mp3 player up until my Zune, but it had a loose headphone jack so unless it was held in a specific position, only one headphone would receive sound. There's also 3 of my CD players sitting on my desk somewhere, two just regular CD players and the 3rd a CD player that could play MP3 CD's. All in all, far too much ****.

Unless you have a top-of-the-line sound card, the sound quality from an Ipod will be much better when played through your car's speakers than the sound quality of your laptop when played through them.

I have 1 working iPod but the headphone jack is coming loose... I really need to get it fixed. It's an 80 GB, so to be honest I don't feel a need to have more space. It holds more music than I really need on a trip, and 80 GB is enough that I can have a little of everything. Works fine for me. I had two at one point but my 60 GB broke.

just the one, an old 30gb ipod. it's miserably small compared to the size of my music collection. i almost got a new 160gb while visiting the US last month, but for some reason i opted for a new digital camera instead.

of course, it is quite a big step up from my very first mp3 player - a Diamond Rio PMP300. 32mb of storage, and it cost a whopping $200 back in 1998. it had this huge adapter that plugged into a parallel port, then the cable for the player plugged into that. it took forever to transfer music, even though it only held like 12 songs (128 kbps was the norm back then)

I feel the same way. Currently I just have one 8GB Nano, so I use it for everything. I could use more space as I'm having to rotate stuff out every day, but it keeps me focused on what I want to listen to that day rather than being overwhelmed and potentially shuffling instead.

I really don't get having more than one that's similar in size/capacity.

I've gone through numerous ipods and quite frankly I'm tired of buying them. Right now I have a CD player and a car stereo, and thats really all I need when I'm not with my laptop.
