I couldn't agree more.

True that. The worst thing about this years Grammys is that Skrillex won one. Jeezus.

The *only* good thing to come out of this years Grammys is Chick Corea,Stanley Clarke,Lenny White, Frank Gambale and Jean Luc-Ponty wining 2 Grammys on their album "Forever"

" "Forever" just won 2 Grammy Awards!

Best Improvised Jazz Solo for Chick ("500 Miles High") and Best Jazz Instrumental Album for Corea, Clarke & White! Here's Chick and Stanley just before the announcement ..."

You didn't mention the nominees/predictions for this category, though, FaSho, but this was the only positive thing this year.

this cracks me up: Who is Bon Iver. I don't particularly care for Bon Iver but come on, how can anyone, let alone tons of people not know of them at this point?

To be honest, I know of them but I have not knowingly ever heard anything by them...

So I tried to give my opinions on that list you posted, FaSho, but I realised having started at the bottom and then realised I should be going from the top and then subsequently realised that I had heard maybe five of the songs listed in the entire thing more than once and one of the albums that I really didn't have enough information to be commenting on anything whatsoever. If anyone wants to read my pointless ramblings before I got bored and stopped, they're in the spoiler :P

Spoiler for Ramblings Ahoy!:
Of that list:

Record of the year: I like Mumford & Sons, haven't heard the new album though. I've heard good things about Adele, but haven't knowingly heard any yet, I think skrillex is a dick with no talent (but I'm not a huge fan of anything with a Drop, it must be said), Katy Perry has released some decent Pop for modern standards but Firework just bored me, as I said I've never heard Bon Iver.

Album of the year: I really enjoyed Wasting Light. I think it's a solid record with some great songs, and I'd happily vote for it on any nomination it's given. That may well be because it's one of the only "new" albums I've heard this year :P

New Artist: ... Who are these people again? :D (should listen to the radio more)

Rap: I can't remember ever having listened to a "popular" rap album. Is it worth it? I can't say this is a genre I follow particularly. That said, I seem to have lost most connection to "new music", so hey, this isn't particularly a shock to me :P

Folk: I have heard of half the folk nominees, but haven't heard any of the nominations, and I'm presuming that by "Folk" they mean American, and are totally ignoring anything else.

I've seen Bon Iver been thrown about here in conversations. Couldn't tell you what kind of music it is, or if he/she is a band/solo artist and I'm certainly not stupid.

Bon Iver - For Emma

Bon Iver - Skinny Love

Being at work currently (and on the phone) I can't listen to them, but if they suck or are something else, those titles are where you should start. Its better music for driving home after work when you're burned out. So if you're pumped up right now you may want to skip these.

Thanks Brennan, luckily I'm shattered after staff training so I'll probably enjoy them :). Cheers!

I was really pleased to see Justin Vernon win, and I thought he made a lot of valid points in his speech.

It's always a bit strange to see artists like Bon Iver and Arcade Fire get public recognition for albums like Bon Iver and The Suburbs, when their best albums--modern CLASSIC albums--have been made years before. It's like mainstream music lives in a different universe.

Was that black and yellow song up for a grammy? ****ing hell. That was one radio song I just could not listen to.

Never liked any of Bon Iver's stuff to be honest, but the point you make is correct. How do they even justify calling them "New" in any way?
