A few other winners from that era: As for the argument over what constitutes a "one hit wonder", I like the rule I just made up ten seconds ago: if you type the artist's song into Google and the first thing Google suggests is a song title they are indeed a one hit wonder... |
Oh my god if I have to hear Mambo #5 ever again I might go crazy and kill someone. It was used in just about every commercial for years after that...

^ "Mambo No. 5" came on the radio the other day when I was at work, and I was really excited... :p

I'm gonna predict Fireflies.
fackin horrid song |
Not only was this a one hit wonder in the U.K in 1981 it is also one of my favourite tracks of all time. There probably won't be much discussion about this track but any chance I get to hear it- I am happy. I can never hear this track enough.

Golden Earring's "Radar Love".............ask anyone and sadly it's the only song a lot have ever heard from them
Oh and New Zealand's very own OMC's "How Bizarre" |
|
Oh, how could I forget that gem. It's such a priceless collection, as stated. I remember them play on one of those VH1 'let's revive one hit wonders' kind of show. They covered 'Always' by Blink-182, haha.

Radar Love is a kickass song, great bassline.
That's the second Dutch band mentioned so far. I'm surprised no garage bands have been mentioned, a whole sh*tload of one hit wonders came out of that. And my personal favorite garage rock song. |
The only hit I remember from this band anyway |
