All great albums though.

I'm shocked and appalled by the positioning of the Chuck Mosley albums on that list.

The Chuck Mosley albums have grown on me in recent years. But I'm still appalled at the positioning of Album of the Year. And I'd still put The Real Thing ahead of the Mosley ones.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Yeah, I think Album of the Year is one of those consistently unfairly maligned albums. It's definitely not their best but it's still decent.

I think it's far more than decent, personally. I find it much more consistent than King for a Day, also.

I'm a big fan of Album Of the Year myself too. I'm probably in a minority (in fact, I know I am), but I'd put King For a Day as my pick of the bunch.

In fact, I think I'll do that right now;

Faith No More

King For a Day, Fool For a Lifetime > Angel Dust > Album Of the Year > The Real Thing > Introduce Yourself > We Care a Lot

^ It is dead close between their last three albums with me though.

As for the Chuck Mosley albums, the only song I still like off them is Anne's Song. Loved both those albums when I was a kid though.

I was about to disagree with you but I just looked over what's on it to refresh my memory and it's actually even better than I remembered. I loved King for a Day when it came out and was slightly disappointed with Album of the Year when it came out, but looking at them now I think might have a harder time choosing which I like better.

You know I just looked over the track lists and it struck me that FNM is one of those bands for which it's nearly impossible to rank their albums. Each album has a few songs I don't like all that much, and each one has a ton of killer songs that are all equally good in their own way. At least when it comes to the Patton releases. And while I enjoy the Mosley ones, they just fall at the bottom due to lack of consistency in quality - despite having some great songs.

So, out of curiosity, which are the songs you don't like on Album of the Year? I've never really been a fan of "Pristina" personally. Actually, looking at it now the end of the album in general is sort of weak.

I feel that FNMs first two releases were more soulful than anything else they did afterward, with Angel Dust being a near exception. Stuff like "The Jungle" and "Anne's Song" are masterpieces in my eyes. I use to really like Album of Year, and I still think Stripsearch is FNM at the top of their game. But there's no depth to the music overall (not like their previous albums) and it sounds like the band is kinda just phoning it in. We Care a Lot and Introduce Yourself were far more musically ambitious and exciting for their time, regardless of Mosley (who I like by the way, he was an eccentric and interesting vocalist in his own way). Some of the most entertaining and colorful punk music I've heard and proof that the band didn't need to jump back and forth between genres to make great music.

The Real Thing is actually pretty similar to Introduce Yourself, except with more metal influence and hilariously over-the-top vocals and lyrics from Patton. That records a lot of fun to listen to as well.
