Default Great Musicians Who Were Massive Assh*les

Sometimes, someone who makes fantastic music can also be a bit of a prick.
Post examples here.

Marc Bolan
There is no denying that both T. Rex and Tyrannosaurus Rex were fabulous. But behind the scenes Marc was a bit of a ****. He was best friends with John Peel and used this to his advantage by being played on Top Gear. When Marc reached the mainstream he stopped talking to Peel. Bolan basically used Peel to get famous, and although I love his music that makes him a bit of a tosser.

Marc Bolan was a cunt?! WHAT? Don't say things like that James.

Albarn was a massive twat, probably still is.

Morrissey has that cynical side to him, I wouldn't call him an arsehole though.

Ian Curtis was a dick to his wife, but again I wouldn't call him an arsehole.. Just got married young which messed up his head.

I think Ike Turner pretty much takes the cake on this one. He was truly a brilliant musician and one of rock's early innovators but that tends to get overshadowed by the fact that he was also a wife-beating bastard.

Not strictly true.
Bolan used to write poetry that he would read out during John Peel's show. Once T Rex became huge Bolan simply didn't have time to do it anymore and Peel took it as a personal insult having had the same thing happen to him with Rod Stewart around the same time. Peel actually went as far as to rubbish some of Bolan's singles when they were released because he was never comfortable with Bolan's new rockier direction. After that Peel decided not to let personal friendships get in the way of business.
If you read Peel's autobiography he admits himself that the falling out between them came from both sides.

Ahh I see maybe the biography I read was a little biased.

Isn't that just the basic description of a rawkstar?

To be an arsehole in music, I think you have to take it to the next level.

I used to work within the music industry and one person who really took it to the next level was Whitney Houston. She was absolutely horrible! No manners at all and unbelievably arrogant and nasty (although not a "rawkstar" ).

How about Phil Spector? Another terrible person and finally received his just desserts, the creep.
