Neutral Milk Hotel

It's hard for me to dislike music with a passion(as many of you will joyously find out in this month's themed compilation

). But Neutral Milk Hotel found a way to bypass my tolerance and get on my every last nerve. Monotonous, grating, pretentious, annoying, and dull, ITAOTS tops my worst album of all time list.
I don't care if "IIIIIIIIIIII LOOOOOOOOOOVE YOOOU JEISUS CARIIIIIST" is supposed to be "ironic" or "symbolic", it's just plain irritating to me.
Their fans are tossers too:

I like that album because I think it has nice melodies and interesting lyrics. I don't think it's necessarily "brilliant", just really well put together.

I don't understand how somebody could go to such lengths on NMH. As it's been said, nothing about their music is inherently bad. Very simple, seldom incredible, but often kind. No songs on 'In the Aeroplane' sound alike either, unless you consider two acoustic songs to create monotony.

As stereotypical as it may be, I have to leave the room when Nickelback comes on the station, as their music legitimately causes me physical pain.

LMAO! Wow that's some hilarious stuff.

I'm a fan of NMH (though I much prefer their first album over ITAOTS), but that's some serious BS there. They are far from being one of the best bands of all time. I mean it's fine for someone to think that, but not for them to say "You just lack the perceptive qualities to appreciate the music."

And even though I enjoy ITAOTS, it is severely overrated.
