After The Jayhawks opened some shows for Tom Petty the riff from "Waiting For The Sun" showed up as "Mary Jane's Last Dance".

The Replacements also opened shows for Tom Petty and the phrase "a rebel without a clue" from "I'll Be You" turned up in Petty's "Into The Great Wide Open".

If you're a band from Minneapolis don't open for Tom Petty, he'll plagiarize you.

Interesting additional part of this: "Waiting For The Sun" was released on Rick Rubin's label Def American and Rubin also produced "Mary Jane's Last Dance".

There was an interesting one I was hearing. Coldplay's vida la whatever (I'm certainly no Coldplay fan) had the exact same melody as Satriani's "If I Could Fly"..

And there is that one Dream Theater/Muse similarity in one of their songs, Stockholm Syndrome/(don't remember the DT song)

There's a song by the Argentine band Enanitos Verdes also has a similar melody and is older than the Satriani song. I don't think anyone actually stole it from anyone else, it's just one of those melodies that's easy to come up with. Satriani is an idiot for suing over it (and he lost by the way).

It's a weird one but one of the most blatant:

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Italian Tiziano Ferro is the king of plagiarism:

He even has plagiarized a plagiarism: Visage ---> K. Osbourne ---> T. Ferro
