holy crap i'm jealous. don't suppose you know anything more about the new Monster Magnet disc besides what's on wikipedia? (it's apparently going to be called Mastermind and was supposed to be out this summer, now October...)

i'm also STILL trying to score a replacement copy of Superjudge. i know i could order one online or something but i'm old school and rather find it on a shelf.

A couple weeks ago I was curious to see if there were personal Facebook accounts belonging to people from obscure 80s bands I had songs by.
I found the singer and bassist from this band:

Obviously not popstars. And yeah, I know they're cheesy. I could've said something to the people from the band who I found on Facebook but decided there was nothing worth saying to them since I don't know them and I'm not really a fan of the band. Romeo's Daughter was the only band I looked up because soon I realized all the bands I'm actually a fan of are too popular for their members to have facebook profiles.

But you should take note that if you like a band from the last 25 years that's no longer musically relevant and has a negligible modern following, there's a good chance you can find its members on facebook and bother them.

funny how few people expect the people who played in even remotely successful bands at some point in the past to actually be, you know, human, once their time in the limelight fades. even more is how people are routinely amazed that one time 'successful' musicians have to work regular jobs to pay the bills once their touring days are long over.

kind of like how i've bought plenty of albums from the drummer from Eric's Trip. i always knew him as 'that' dude from the record store until a friend filled me in after i moved to town. he's freaking cool as hell with a 'i've rocked out my entire freaking life' vibe but none of the 'i was a rockstar' BS. not unlike the guitarist from the Monoxides (a one hit wonder) who used to work at the same store and had one of the worst attitudes you could imagine.

I've talked to Ben Weinman on FB like two times. And the guys from This Town Needs Guns have responded to FB wall posts, but that's not really that cool.

I've talked to Steven Ho (hollywood stunt man who works with Conan O'Brien quite a bit) several times on FB. He's pretty active on his pages I Like Steven Ho and Asian Conan. That's pretty much the extent of my experience with celebs on the internet.

I managed to find Mia from Kayo Dot's Last.FM page. I sent her a friend request.

the description on her page is the funniest thing I've ever seen
and Tyondai Braxton replied to my comment before... <3 <3 <3

I'm sure lot of famous artists hang out online, some possibly reading posts here. MB comes up high on Google search engines. But I assume most go incognito on the net so as not to be pestered.

Then again what do I know.
