At first there was David Allan Coe, but years later along came a complete and total masterpiece by the name of John Foster.

God bless you and John and David Allan always!!!

Brix - Space Oddity

Brix Smith (former member of The Fall, The Adult Net, Brix & The Extricated, solo work) presents this compelling cover of Space Oddity. On some days, I think it's better than the original. Brix's thundering electric guitar (in place of the acoutic strumming in the original) and the repeated shouts of "Can you hear me?" emphasize the fact that by letting his spacecraft drift off, he will die a horrible death.

To me, John Foster owns everything that he thinks is good enough to sing.

A very respectable and listenable effort from Brix but, in my opinion, not in the same galaxy as the Bowie original, one of rock's great classics.

There's another Bowie cover I like a lot, though at the end of the day I prefer the original

Webb Wilder - Samson And Delilah's Beauty Shop

Much better than Steve Forbert's original IMO:

I wish that we could hear the rest of the performance. Even with the legendary David Foster's lack of knowledge where the song is concerned, John Foster (no relation there) is who makes the performance as beautiful as it is.

God bless you and him and Mr. Foster always!!!

Holly

P.S. Foster is John's middle name. His last name is Benoit and because it is a French name, it is pronounced Ben Wa.

I wouldn't say that this is a cover because the original singer is doing the song, "What Might Have Been" by country band Little Texas that is, but to me, the special guest is who puts this performance in a class all its own.
