This cover may not exceed the original, but to me, John couldn't shine anymore brightly here.

God bless you and John and the Brooks & Dunn duo always!!!

The woodstock song by Crosby Stills and Nash I think is better than the original.

Although I heard this cover first so I thought that was the original..

Frank Black's version of the Beach Boys' "Hang On to Your Ego" (a.k.a "I Know There's an Answer")

Nothing to do with covers but apropos of Frank Black's self-titled debut album, this is one of my favorite songs

I only learned yesterday that this song was done first by the legendary Hank Williams Jr.

The first song done during this clip was done by country legends George Strait and Alan Jackson. This past Saturday night it was done by an angel who in my opinion takes ownership of every song that comes out of his mouth and to me, there can never be too much of this complete and total masterpiece.

Ray Charles - Look What They've Done To My Song, Ma

I like Ray's version better than Melanie's original, which I never thought was one of her better tunes. Ray Charles could probably have sung the words from a lawnmower instruction manual and made them sound good.

The Sugarcubes - Motorcycle Mama

IMHO, far superior to the oringal by one-hit wonders Sailcat.

To me, every song that is covered by this complete and total masterpiece of a young man blows right past whoever did the song first.

P.S. I do however pray that he sings his own material more often too. He played the Opry last night for his 19th birthday. This was his second Opry appearance and with it being his birthday, it would've been just the night for him to sing "Tell That Angel, I Love Her", but all three songs that were done last night were cover songs. I can understand if his angel song is too hard to sing on the Opry stage with the song being about his late friend and so to me, another song that he wrote named "Someone To Sing To" would've been the perfect song to sing instead. John wrote both songs by himself and to me, they are both masterpieces. I can't wait for whatever else comes next from his heart, mind, and soul.

Definitely better than the original, no comparison.

Having said that, the smartass doing Icelandic rap leaves me cold. Bjork is just great, so musical, so talented, so singular, just perfect. But I really don't like the guy. I know someone who says that he's the best part about the Sugarcubes but I am a simple guy, I like when the music is good.

Birthday though... what a perfect, haunting song...
