Congratulations. This list is hilarious. So you decided to put down Dylan, Beatles, Who and Zeppelin at the same time

^ And why not?
I'll put down Bowie, while everyone's at it...

Frownland 12-15-2013 10:13 AM

Do standards count? I don't think I prefer any of the original jazz standards apart from Ornette and Satchmo's work to what artists have interpreted them as in the years following.

Well, they're his opinions, which is allright for me. It is always good that your opinions are original and you are just not following the public opinion. At least when you truly believes those covers are better. It is stupid just to be different cos it is cool.
What made his list hilarious was just that he insulted many artists without any shame.

Yes and yes to the Bauhaus version of that song.

I did not mean to imply that the originals were not great also. Its just that I like the way the covers "tweak" and "twist" the originals into something different and interesting. "Variety is the spice of life".

This cover of Britney Spears' "Hit Me One More Time" by August Burns Red is hilarious :D

August Burns Red - Hit Me Baby One More Time - YouTube

Speaking of Britney Spears covers, this one of "Everytime" by Yashin is also pretty damn awesome :D

Yashin - Everytime - YouTube

This cover of Goteye's "Somebody I Used To Know" by Mayday Parade certainly livens it up a bit:

Mayday Parade - "Somebody That I Used To Know" feat. Vic Fuentes (Punk Goes Pop 5) - YouTube

ADTR did a great cover of Kelly Clarkson's "Since You Been Gone":

A Day To Remember - Since U Been Gone - YouTube

This cover of Imagine Dragon's "Radioactive" by A-cappella group Pentatonix [along with violinist Linsay Stirling] is absolutely awesome:

Linda Ronstadt regularly did covers I thought were much better than the originals. She's the only singer I'd say did that on a regular basis, too.

Engine 12-23-2013 04:04 AM

infinitely more enjoyable..

Given the song it should probably be Viagra.

Theres also an egg involved. So I guess it could be all about pro-creation?

Grogsy 01-09-2014 09:32 PM

Johnny Cash is awesome but Social Distortion do a fine job of 'Ring Of Fire'.

All along the watchtower,by Jimi hendrix

Moss 01-11-2014 10:20 AM

Oh man, that QOTSA blurred lines is way better than the original.

I always liked this version of Head on better:

BassLudeman 01-13-2014 01:34 PM

imo Disturbed did Land of Confusion better than crappy 80s Genesis could.
also I happen to much prefer cap'n jazz's version of Take on Me even though Tim Kinsella sings it pretty badly...

I really like the Pixies version but I think the original is better.

Here's Mountain Goats covering a song that was totally unimportant to me before. I love it when that happens

Honza 01-19-2014 02:23 AM

Has anyone mentioned Motorhead's version of Sandman - brilliant.

last-night-in-sodom 01-23-2014 10:40 PM

Marilyn Manson - Personal Jesus

Jarlaxle 01-26-2014 02:17 PM

Yes, it's Bonnie Tyler...

Band of Gold

(Unfortunately, not the best quality recording...)

Jarlaxle 01-26-2014 02:23 PM

Another one from Bonnie Tyler...

Have You Ever Seen The Rain

Only Jim Steinman could pull off something like this...

dwill123 01-31-2014 10:32 AM

Dave Mason - "All Along the Watchtower".

Isbjørn 01-31-2014 11:34 AM

Marseille - A Picture Postcard

Tim Kinsella - A Picture Postcard

Not sure if either one of those are better than the original Promise Ring version, but I think both of them are pretty good, especially the first one. Those guitars..!

Prospero 02-01-2014 07:56 AM

Hurt by Johnny Cash. The agony and pathos in the song massively overwhelms the Nine Inch nails version for me
