So anyway, here's mine. I'm riding shotgun with this girl. She puts it on an absolutely horrendous pop-country station so I start looking through the CD's in the car. I find a couple ****ty rap CDs (T.I. I think) and a whole lot of ****ty country, i.e. Rascall Flats, Big & Rich, etc. Finally stumble across a Bob Dylan greatest hits CD
Me: Hey do you mind if we listen to this CD? This other stuff isn't really my cup of tea
Her: Ugh. Can you pick a different one? My friend gave me that to listen to, its not mine. Its just a ****ty version of country, you would hate it if you don't like this.
Me: (stunned at this point but trying to be polite) I've heard his music before, I actually like it. Maybe you just haven't given it a chance. (I put it on "Positively 4th Street." Bob gets through "you got a lot of nerve..." and she ejects the cd)
Her: Wow, its worse than I remembered. You know, you shouldn't be so open about your tastes if your gonna listen to such weird music. Girls will think your creepy if you try to play stuff like that around them

Simple high school economics. She had something (a vagina that I was allowed access too on occasion) that was in very short supply and very high demand

I wouldn't go near that vagina if it had half as bad taste in music as it's owner.

I would rather masturbate...
And walk.

Fact: I don't have sex with or date a girl without knowing her taste in music.
It's really one of the first things I bring up. When it's really bad, I won't bother.
People often think I'm an idiot because of that.
Well I am an idiot, but definitely not because of that .

I am kind of silly .
What bothers me is often more the lack of interest in (good) music of any sort, than whether the music is my taste. I just can't live with someone who only listens to whatever passes on the radio and watches these awful xfactor the voice of got talent programs all the time. I dunno, maybe I'm arrogant. But I don't know why I should want to be with a girl like that. I mean, it's not like there's not enough people around who actually do have a good taste .
I try to treat everyone nice, but when it comes to relations I do have some 'demands'. And one of them is good taste in music. Or at least interest in music.
The others are love for animals and hate for racism, by the way .

It's not so much ignorance with me. As someone pointed out to me one time, it's like having a clean slate. But I won't date a girl who's arrogant about her awful taste. Because that probably is farther reaching than music as a personality trait.

My boyfriend has horrible music tastes and basically listens to mostly mainstream
I don't think it's a big deal though.
I can't really understand why it matters that much, maybe if they're close minded about it, but he 98% of the time will let me put on whatever.

I really really life for/with/because of music.
Should there ever be a fire, after people and animals I will try to rescue my record collection. It's even worth risking my own life.
It's the most important thing in my life and I really need to share it with people.
So, yeah... That's why. It's the feeling for music I need to share. Not the music itself in the first place
