Anyone mind sending me something? Always looking for new bands/artists.

khfreek 01-01-2011 11:11 PM

xEMGx: I'll send you two albums cause I've just gleaned your taste from some of your posts and can't be sure in my recommendations.

Six by Mansun - An overlooked new prog album from 1998

S/t by Kvelertak - An interesting combination of black metal and hard rock.

Now someone send me a thing or two!

bob. 01-01-2011 11:15 PM

nice....that Kvelertak is one of my favorite albums this year

xEMGx...

i was actually also in the process of uploading an album for you....but considering that two were just sent to you would you still like it?

Alfred 01-01-2011 11:16 PM

Yeah, that Kvelertak album is one of the best metal albums that came out in 2010.

Insane Guest 01-01-2011 11:17 PM

Thanks for the albums khfreek, I'll be listening to them tonight. : )
@ bob.
I have more than enough time... feel free to send it... I'll try and get something to you guys...

bob. 01-02-2011 12:19 AM

alright

xEMGx

Firewater - Get Off The Cross, We Need The Wood For Fire
http://rsindex.pictures-hosting.com/...13_medium.jpeg

so not knowing a whole lot about your taste...except you obviously like the Doors, and Jim Morrison in particular, and you love Pink Floyd....i send you Firewater's amazing debut album....it is full of retrospective poetic lyrics and has a wonderful twinge of psychedelic music....but at the same time homes onto a despondent and dirty outlook on both life and music.....there is still a hint of the Todd's first band which is guttural, noisy and mean as all hell....something i feel may be lacking in your taste....enjoy

and for khfreek

basically when you sent xEMGx the albums i figured he may say no to more and started looking at your charts....so for you i send one of the greatest albums of all time (in my mind)

UNSANE - Scattered, Smothered, and Covered
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51F91Q2ZHYL.jpg

so looking through your charts i see a lot of stuff i've never heard....but i started to notice one reoccurring thing....lots of pictures of tattooed guys screaming....and then i noticed that you've yet to really embrace "noise rock" and at that heavy as shit noise.....this is UNSANE...unrelenting, heavy, in your face and yet with a feeling of that guy who sits on top of NYC buildings with a loaded rifle.....and thats just the music!.....enjoy

Holly Miranda - The Magician's Private Library

I know you enjoy quite a lot of dream pop, and this is a lovely album that takes a lot of cues and I think you'll enjoy.

Thanks for this one i really enjoyed it. When i listened to the first track it sounded a little bit like Cocteau Twins gone twee, but as the next track came on the album turned into something a little bit different. One description that came into my head as i was listening to it is that she sounds a bit like Tegan and Sara lost in a dark forest with Beach House. It sounds a bit dark and twisted in places and has a nice dreamy feel to it. I'm very impressed by her vocals, they sound really gorgeous and captivating. Also looking at pictures of her, she is seriously gorgeous.

I sent this album to duga:

Adorable - Against Perfection (1993)

We both have a very similar taste in music and i've really been enjoying this album lately so i thought you might like it as well. This band were initially lumped in with shoegaze in the early 90's but they pretty much broke the mold with this album, their strong songwriting abilities and memorable tunes distanced themselves somewhat from their peers. Their record label Creation however didn't bother much with them and crippled the band's commercial potential.

"It's glorioooooooouuuus!"

Hehe, good recommendation, I agree that they had an immense commercial potential, some of the songs just stick with you. Glorious and Sunshine Smile come to mind really.

Edit: bob., could you send that firewater album my way? Thanks in advance.

bob. 01-02-2011 09:08 AM

The Mansun album was pretty cool, but it wasn't really anything that I liked or stood out.
However, Kvelertak kicked some serious ass. That's the fast paced punch you in the face metal that I expect from Norway. Although it is the only album in my library so far that is not in English, it is a great album and It really kicks off a career for these guys, I want to see what more they can do.

@bob. I will check it out, thanks for the Rec.
I will be looking at your charts to see if I can come up with something to send you.
