I dislike metal/screamo. Ugh. Screaming doesn't add anything to music. Emotion? I don't think so. Just makes you think of hell.

isn't the aim of most metal to do just that?

I find it painful to listen to. I agree with you about the mild bands though; I don't mind the louder parts of Cobain's vocals (dunno if you'd call it screaming).

I have never cared for, and can't see ever liking rap/hip hop/r & b. No matter what someone recommends me from those genres it doesn't change my general hatred of them.

You really shouldn't cultivate any hatred for a type of music. It just seems like it would be a bit unhealthy...

However, maybe some of us can help you with your situation. Care to mention a few of your favorite musical artists, genres, etc? Also, what do you tend to look for when searching for new music?

As far as favorite artists it would include, Bob Dylan, Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd, Rage Against The Machine, Everclear. It varies depending on the mood I am in.

I don't really know how to describe what I look for when I am looking for new music. I usually go on last.fm(Just recently started to use it again after not using it for a very long time) and I just use their radio player to listen to new stuff.

If you look back through the thread I have posted many Hip Hop videos that may or may not change your opinion.

It would help if you detailed what it is you don't like about it, and people can try and offer you artists who don't contain, or who work around those aspects.

I can not stand pop music. This music has bunch of worthless below par singers and just sexual sounds. Come on. Pop music is way worse than Rock music though that music is also nothing either. I am a African and Urban music man. Those music are better than pop and rock combined.
