Hate is a strong word. I never said I hated Zepp, just Robert Plant. But I guess I don't really hate him, unless I'm in a hateful mood, haha. I don't think his voice is that great, definitely not as good as it's made out be. Some people make it seem like he's one of the greatest singers ever, which is definitely false. They were good as a band. Although they were pretty good plagiarist, but at least they were good at it. Definitely not the most creative band.

LOL. I can imagine him trying to sell tickets in pouring rain on a muddy street corner, and trying to suck up to the band members all th time.

I think they might get credit for the current heavy metal idea of writing songs about fantasy novels.

it's nothing new - even though Hawkwind weren't metal, they adapted a lot of Michael Moorcock's books in the 70s

.....and then going onto a music forum and slagging off the band members for being sloppy and writing a pile of shite.

And by writing a song about a book, you are by definition being unoriginal as it's someone else's work you are writing about.

it can work, if the atmosphere suits the tone of the book - i think Iron Maiden's Rime of the Ancient Mariner captures the "feel" of the poem brilliantly

Haha...
There's nothing wrong with doing that. I just don't think that it is composing new material.

The idiot who started this thread lost that discussion last month. Right now we're just gloating over how much of a loser he is.

And you're right: Hendrix is awesome.

Welcome to Music Banter by the way!
