^ I`d like to know what the admin had to say to such an aggressive newcomer.

Yes, yes, I know...it may be hard to remember the adjective that matches this rare online behavior. ;)

^ Well said,Vegangelica !

I also have good memories of my local record library; I was very impressed to find half a dozen albums of Tibetan music in it, as well as spoken-word recordings and lots of other strange stuff.

The pics I like best on this thread are the shop interiors from Janszoon and s_k. I`m such a sad case, I`m reading the category labels and wishing I was there ...
I used to buy records from a similar shabby dive called Notting Hill Record Exchange in SW London. It had a great combination of low prices and (by my standards) obscure albums. Got most of my John Fahey from there.

I'm a big fan of the Philadelphia Record Exchange. It's basically a house jam packed with records on both floors and the basement. It's the ideal place if you're the kind of person who enjoys spending hours digging through old vinyl, and I assume most people posting in this thread are that kind of person. The staff there is great too. I always remember the time I was in there pretty late in the evenng, thinking they were probably about to close so I walked up to the guys at the counter and asked if they needed close up soon. One of them held up his mostly-full bottle of beer and said, "nope".

Wow, you're really not feigning indifference at all. All this time I thought it was just your sense of humour.
