Those Best Album Of All Time Lists...

The discussion I had with Stu & Janszoon in some other thread inspired this one so you can blame them.

We've all seen those The Greatest Album Of All Time lists, we all know which albums are always featured, it's nearly always the same ones anyway.

Hey look!!!

Here's one of those very same generic lists I was talking about, It doesn't matter where it's from. It's a list of 'The Best Albums EVERRRRRR' so we'll use the top 30 of it for the purposes of this thread.

1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles
2. Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys
3. Revolver - The Beatles
4. Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan
5. Rubber Soul - The Beatles
6. What's Going On - Marvin Gaye
7. Exile on Main Street - The Rolling Stones
8. London Calling - The Clash
9. Blonde on Blonde - Bob Dylan
10. The Beatles ("The White Album") - The Beatles
11. The Sun Sessions - Elvis Presley
12. Kind of Blue - Miles Davis
13. Velvet Underground and Nico - The Velvet Underground

27. King of the Delta Blues Singers, Vol. 1 - Robert Johnson
28. Who's Next - The Who
29. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin
30. Blue - Joni Mitchell

Now, this isn't one of those threads where people come in and say 'Oh (insert album title here) deserves to be much higher than (insert a different album title here)' We've done that here before loads of times and it was dull then.

No, what I want you to do is this...

These are supposedly the BEST albums of all time, The elite of the past 70 or so years of all recorded music.

Yeah?

Well If that's the case then people should be listening to them all the time. Which is why I ask this question

When was the last time YOU listened to any of them.

Be as specific or vague as you like.

Goofle 12-07-2011 01:59 PM

SATCHMO 12-07-2011 01:59 PM

What's Going On, Kind of Blue, and Highway 61 Revisited I've listened to at least once this year. There are are 2 or 3 albums from that list which I can say I own, but very rarely listen to. The rest...meh

s_k 12-07-2011 02:05 PM

1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles
Probably a year ago as I don't think it's all that good :)

2. Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys
Once. Can't even remember if I liked it

3. Revolver - The Beatles
Couple of weeks back. Best beatles album imho and definitely one of the best albums of all time

4. Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan
Years ago. I don't think of this as a brilliant beatles album

5. Rubber Soul - The Beatles
Last week. Friend of mine put it on the record player. Love it

6. What's Going On - Marvin Gaye
Never. Don't like soul in any shape or form.

7. Exile on Main Street - The Rolling Stones
I don't think I've ever listened to the entire album. I don't like 99% of the stones' songs.

8. London Calling - The Clash
Never, this album. Just gotten into the clash (through the Dead 60's) and haven't listened to any albums yet. Might change soon.

9. Blonde on Blonde - Bob Dylan
Couple of weeks back. Nice one :)

10. The Beatles ("The White Album") - The Beatles
Two weeks ago. Just got it I definitely think it's nowhere close to revolver (or Abbey Road, for that matter) but I'm glad I finally got my hands on a copy... For just one buck :D

11. The Sun Sessions - Elvis Presley
Never. Don't like old style R&R, don't like new style Elvis.
Don't like Elvis

12. Kind of Blue - Miles Davis
Err... Week ago? Love this one. Not the best Jazz album ever according to me (that would be Kenny Dorham's Quiet Kenny) but it's very good

13. Velvet Underground and Nico - The Velvet Underground
Couple of months ago. Love it though. Should play it soon.

14. Abbey Road - The Beatles
Three or four weeks ago. Masterpiece.

15. Are You Experienced? - The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Years ago. I really love Jimi, but his albums are so expensive overhere that I only got Axis Bold as love. Will change that.

16. Blood on the Tracks - Bob Dylan
Two weeks ago. What a brilliant album this is.

17. Nevermind - Nirvana
Err... Well I rarely listen to Nirvana. I only own Live at the BBC and I never even play that in one go.

18. Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen
Never. I don't like Springsteen. I like Spirits in the Night and I can't deny liking I'm on fire. That's it.

19. Astral Weeks - Van Morrison
Never even heard of that album. Don't care too much for the Van Man.

20. Thriller - Michael Jackson
Never. Or perhaps when I was really young. I don't like MJ

21. The Great Twenty-Eight - Chuck Berry
Never heard of that one either. Soul-ish. Not my style.

22. Plastic Ono Band - John Lennon
You know, I actually listened to most of that yesterday.
Rino, who is one of the owners of my music store, insisted I'd listen to it and I absolutely loved it. Completely missed out on this album. Ordered it rightaway :)

23. Innervisions - Stevie Wonder
I think I used to own that. Years back. Don't care about Stevie.

24. Live at the Apollo - James Brown
Another Soul album. Don't care.

25. Rumours - Fleetwood Mac
What!? Really!? This must be an American list.
I Absolutely LOATHE the Fleetwood Mac with females. I loved their older work. Then Play on is a masterpiece. How can this be in this list and no older Fleetwood Ma... oh wait, not supposed to say that.
The Answer to the question is: Years ago, when I was young and foolish

26. The Joshua Tree - U2
Perhaps once in my life. I don't get U2. What's good about it?

27. King of the Delta Blues Singers, Vol. 1 - Robert Johnson
I know who Johnson is and I know what he did for modern day music. But I've never listened to any of his albums. I feel ashamed.

28. Who's Next - The Who
Once, perhaps. I don't really care about the Who

29. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin
Never, I think. I always get people angry when I say this, but: I DON'T LIKE LED ZEP!!!

30. Blue - Joni Mitchell
Female voice, won't work with me.
According to the guys at my music store I'm really missing out on something when it comes to Joni. Ah well.

I like this topic. It's a good idea actually.

ThePhanastasio 12-07-2011 02:08 PM

I've listened to about 3/4 of those in the past year, and about a dozen in the past month or so. They're the kind of albums my buddy always has playing at his house.

Unknown Soldier 12-07-2011 02:15 PM

What no Doors, Pearl Jam or Cheap Trick on the list......what a load of shite and as for Velvet Underground at number 11, that must be the biggest con of all time. Apart from all that, I gotta admit I actually like most of the albums on that list quite a lot.

And fuck off S_K Rumours is one of the greatest albums ever recorded.:finger:

Thom Yorke 12-07-2011 02:17 PM

I think the only ones I've listened to recently (past couple of weeks) are London Calling and Velvet Underground and Nico.

I'm supposing this also includes the equally banal, "What no [insert band and/or album name here]? This list is total crap!", which was also very dull then, as it is now.

Zer0 12-07-2011 02:31 PM

Out of the albums I have

1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles
Haven't listened to it in over a year. A good album but not my favourite Beatles album.

3. Revolver - The Beatles
One of my Beatles albums of choice. The last time I listened to it was earlier this year.

5. Rubber Soul - The Beatles
I don't think I've listened to it in over a year.

10. The Beatles ("The White Album") - The Beatles
I can't remember when I last listened to the whole bloody thing. I sometimes just listen to a handful of tracks off it at a time.

13. Velvet Underground and Nico - The Velvet Underground
Another album I haven't listened to in some time. I must dig it out though sometime soon as it's a great album.

14. Abbey Road - The Beatles
My other Beatles album of choice. I last listened to it sometime during the summer.

15. Are You Experienced? - The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Haven't listened to this album in a few years now. I'm not really pushed to either.

17. Nevermind - Nirvana
I think I've listened to it enough times to last me a lifetime. Haven't listened to in a few years I guess.

27. King of the Delta Blues Singers, Vol. 1 - Robert Johnson
I usually just listen to a handful of songs off it every now and again. Good when you're in the mood for it.

29. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin
(See Are You Experienced?)

I'm with you here. "Blonde on Blonde" can creep me out at times. for “Just Like a Woman,” scares me. The chorus is “she makes love just like a woman / she aches just like a woman / but she breaks just like a little girl.” Ugh.

Anyway, to answer Urban's worthy question:

I listened to "Highway 61 Revisited" about a month ago, I'm thinking of listening to it again soon. I've listened to "Blonde on Blonde" only twice, both last year.

I started looking at these best albums of all time lists in the mid 90s, and the albums they listed then they do now as well. It's an ok list for beginners, but once you have heard them you take your own journey and make your own judgements. Consensus lists, all time, yearly etc, can get a bit boring anyway. Lists from individuals can be more individual.

The albums in the OP that I can probably listen to all through:

1 Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles
2. Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys
3. Revolver - The Beatles
4. Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan
5. Rubber Soul - The Beatles
6. What's Going On - Marvin Gaye
10. The Beatles ("The White Album") - The Beatles
13. Velvet Underground and Nico - The Velvet Underground
14. Abbey Road - The Beatles
20. Thriller - Michael Jackson

I like most of these albums. The only one I've listened to at all recently is Abbey Road, and that was only because I working in a wine bar at the time :p:

There'll come a time every so often that I'll stick one of these albums on but, the longer I've been familiar with them, moments like that become fewer and further between.

Sneer 12-07-2011 03:45 PM

1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles

My favourite Beatles album, 1 month ago was the last listen.

This afternoon, one of my favourite albums of all time.
14. Abbey Road - The Beatles
3 weeks ago, one of The Beatles' best.

20. Thriller - Michael Jackson
Never.

27. King of the Delta Blues Singers, Vol. 1 - Robert Johnson
2 months, it's the shit.
28. Who's Next - The Who
4 years ago? Never been big on The Who.

A year ago, still enjoy it, I used to be obsessed with Led Zep when I was 15.
30. Blue - Joni Mitchell
3 weeks ago. I love Joni Mitchell.

Good thread. I'll give it a go. I just omitted the ones I haven't been around to yet.

1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles
When I was in Liverpool in March, 2011.

On some train platform somewhere in the UK in March.

Um. Hell. Probably just shy of a year ago?

10. The Beatles ("The White Album") - The Beatles
Months ago. Not sure how many. Too lazy to check RYM and see.

14. Abbey Road - The Beatles
A couple of months ago. This is the only album on the list so far I listen to regularly, or would say I love.

25. Rumours - Fleetwood Mac
Maybe six months ago.

26. The Joshua Tree - U2
Maybe 3 months ago.

30. Blue - Joni Mitchell
Maybe a month ago.

To be honest, I never thought early FWM ever put out a great album, just some average albums that had some great standout singles or tracks which boosted up the quality of the abums. The real strength of early FWM was always Peter Green`s guitar playing.

s_k 12-07-2011 04:59 PM

I love Then Play on. I really do. It's somewhere in my album top 50 I think.
I don't even play it that often, but it's a brilliant album if you ask me.

I have almost every album on that list and do listen to them now and then. The ones it's been the longest since I listened to was probably 3 years ago, for example Exile on Main Street.

Today, I gave Kind of Blue a spin (great album) and yesterday, I listened to Born to Run although it's sort of a coincidence. I don't listen to it that much. What's Goin' On gets played now and then here and the same goes for all of Beatles. Astral Weeks I remember listening to in May and I also listened to Joni Mitchell's Blue around that time. Hendrix gets a rare listen now and then.

The one I haven't listened to for ages is Nirvana's Nevermind. I grew tired of that album in the 90s (loved it at some point) and it still bores me.

On your list you`ve got Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, Hendrix, Maiden, Styx, Kansas, Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Saxon, Stranglers and my god Ten Years After! I like you again! I`m puzzled though, I was under the impression that you didn`t like metal, or are you one of those people that only likes classic era metal of the 1970s and early 1980s?

Interesting idea. Let's see what I need to face up to..
Also, most will be approximations.

1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles 5-10 years. It's got some good songs but not an album I ever feel like listening to in its entirety.
2. Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys Several years. I like it quite a bit though. I should put it on soon.
3. Revolver - The Beatles Same as above.
4. Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan I recently went through an obsessive phase with Dylan. 1 or 2 months. This is one of the few that I really like.
5. Rubber Soul - The Beatles Same as Pet Sounds and Revolver.
6. What's Going On - Marvin Gaye Just last week actually. I love this album.
7. Exile on Main Street - The Rolling Stones Never
8. London Calling - The Clash Never. I honestly can't get through the thing in one sitting. There are a few good songs on it but not many.
9. Blonde on Blonde - Bob Dylan Months. This is a pretty good one.
10. The Beatles ("The White Album") - The Beatles 5 or 10 years but I really like a lot of it. I used to listen to it regularly.
11. The Sun Sessions - Elvis Presley Never.
12. Kind of Blue - Miles Davis Couple years. I may have over-listened to this one. I love it but have heard it too many times.
13. Velvet Underground and Nico - The Velvet Underground About five years. It's mostly pretty good.
14. Abbey Road - The Beatles 5-10 years. Definitely my least favorite of theirs.
15. Are You Experienced? - The Jimi Hendrix Experience 5-10 years. It's okay.
16. Blood on the Tracks - Bob Dylan Months.
17. Nevermind - Nirvana Years but for the same reason as Kind of Blue. I actually love this album.
18. Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen Longer than I can remember. I hate Springsteen.
19. Astral Weeks - Van Morrison Never.
20. Thriller - Michael Jackson I listened to it back when MJ died. I bought the tape when it came out and listened to it a lot as a kid.
21. The Great Twenty-Eight - Chuck Berry Never.
22. Plastic Ono Band - John Lennon Very recently. I love this album and never go more than a few months without listening to it.
23. Innervisions - Stevie Wonder Never.
24. Live at the Apollo - James Brown Never.
25. Rumours - Fleetwood Mac 10 years? Or maybe I just remember crap I've heard on the radio.
26. The Joshua Tree - U2 It's been a few years at least. I'm not much of a U2 fan but it's definitely pretty okay.
27. King of the Delta Blues Singers, Vol. 1 - Robert Johnson Every few years at least. I love all of his stuff along with a lot of the other Delta Blues men.
28. Who's Next - The Who Never.
29. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin 20 years?
30. Blue - Joni Mitchell Never but I'm pretty sure I'd like it.

Wow.

Haha, see? I may not talk about music that much, I know.
I like to listen and learn from you guys. I don't feel like I can teach you much ;). But I do know my way around good music, really.

Got to admit, Styx is sort of there for boat on the river. Sorry for that ;).

About Ten Years After. I love Ten Years After... Stonedhenge is DEFINITLY in my top 50.
Only... I always go "Ten Years After, John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, Old Fleetwood Mac".
So to me it makes... No sense to me that you like Ten Years After but not Fleetwood Mac. How strange! I do see a big smilarity between those bands. Am I hearing something that isn't there? Or have you just heard the wrong tracks? I dunno.

Urban is just sat back in his chair now smoking a cigar, stroking a cat and inside he is saying "boom, look at that one explode"

Best of lists from magazines or popular sites are almost always comprised of people who 'like' music and not people who still actually enjoy music.

1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles - Yesterday. My favorite album of all time so far, which isn't fun to admit because the album is so overrated but if I'm being honest I have to go with it (my favorite for simple enjoyment but I consider Revolver to be a better album...)
2. Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys - A little more than a month ago?
3. Revolver - The Beatles - Two days ago.
4. Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan - A couple of weeks ago. I'm only just getting into Bob Dylan.
5. Rubber Soul - The Beatles - Sometime in the last week.
6. What's Going On - Marvin Gaye - Within the past month.
7. Exile on Main Street - The Rolling Stones - Within the past week but like Bob Dylan, I've only starting listening to the Stones recently.
8. London Calling - The Clash - A couple of months ago. I've been looking for a copy on vinyl and I've been busy with Sandinista!
9. Blonde on Blonde - Bob Dylan - A couple of weeks ago.
10. The Beatles ("The White Album") - The Beatles - Listening to it right now.
11. The Sun Sessions - Elvis Presley - Never listened to.
12. Kind of Blue - Miles Davis - Little more than a month ago, I believe.
13. Velvet Underground and Nico - The Velvet Underground A week and a half ago.
14. Abbey Road - The Beatles - In the past week.
15. Are You Experienced? - The Jimi Hendrix Experience A couple of weeks ago.
16. Blood on the Tracks - Bob Dylan - Never listened to.
17. Nevermind - Nirvana - A little less than a month ago. It didn't do a whole lot for me.
18. Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen - Never listened to all the way through.
19. Astral Weeks - Van Morrison - Never listened.
20. Thriller - Michael Jackson - Never listened!
21. The Great Twenty-Eight - Chuck Berry - NEVER LISTENED!
22. Plastic Ono Band - John Lennon - A few weeks ago.
23. Innervisions - Stevie Wonder - Never listened.
24. Live at the Apollo - James Brown - Never listened.
25. Rumours - Fleetwood Mac - I want to say sometime within in the past two months, but maybe I didn't listen to the entire thing.
26. The Joshua Tree - U2 - Never.
27. King of the Delta Blues Singers, Vol. 1 - Robert Johnson - Haven't heard.
28. Who's Next - The Who Have a copy sitting in my room, waiting to be heard for the first time.
29. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin - A couple of days ago.
30. Blue - Joni Mitchell - Never listened to before.

So I think I'm a person who seemingly slides in perfectly with the greatest albums lists we see so often. I have no idea if that will continue or not, but it's obviously true at this point! My tastes are still settling, which is probably a factor in why I'm listening to these usually critically acclaimed albums. If I heard an album is really great over and over again, I'm more likely to try out said album before another album, lesser acclaimed album.

I went through a Beatles phase recently. And Kind of Blue became a daily album as I studied my ass off the last few weeks. It's all about the jazz!

Howard the Duck 12-07-2011 11:27 PM

1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles

Last heard it last year. After a hiatus of about 10 years (?). Still find it refreshing and probably the pinnacle of their career.

2. Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys

Overplayed. Haven't heard it in 15 years and plan not to in the next 15 years.

3. Revolver - The Beatles

Last heard it half a year ago. Find it overrated. Not gonna hear it again for another 20 (?) years.

4. Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan

Recently got a remastered copy (1 year ago). Big mistake. Overplayed as well.

5. Rubber Soul - The Beatles

Still okay. I go back to it now and then.

6. What's Going On - Marvin Gaye

Last heard about two months ago. Darn, is it monotonous or what?

7. Exile on Main Street - The Rolling Stones

Used to have a high regard for it. Heard it a few months ago and discovered the songs are rather plodding.

8. London Calling - The Clash

No thanks. Didn't like it when i got it, liked it for a while, and now don't like it either.

9. Blonde on Blonde - Bob Dylan

My most overplayed album. Averages a play a week for the last 20 odd years. Finally came to a halt a couple of months ago, and swore never to hear it for the next 20 years.

10. The Beatles ("The White Album") - The Beatles

Still good. Every now and then also.

11. The Sun Sessions - Elvis Presley

Mesmerising. Heard it a few weeks ago.

12. Kind of Blue - Miles Davis

Overhyped. Pleasant enough but i only heard it two or three times since i got it. and last heard about a year ago.

13. Velvet Underground and Nico - The Velvet Underground

Again, quite overplayed. Although there are new things to be rediscovered every time I put it on. Last heard a month ago.

14. Abbey Road - The Beatles

Hardly my favourite. Last heard a year ago.

15. Are You Experienced? - The Jimi Hendrix Experience

Least fave of the official albums, tend to skip to the singles and B-Sides. Last heard a year ago.

16. Blood on the Tracks - Bob Dylan

Overplayed as well. Last heard immensely when i broke up with my ex, about 2 years ago.

17. Nevermind - Nirvana

Boring. I listen to Bleach more. Last heard two months ago.

18. Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen

Just got it. Haven't spun yet.

19. Astral Weeks - Van Morrison

Some sort of annual pilgrimage for me. Last heard a month ago.

20. Thriller - Michael Jackson

Bought it initially and relistened to it a lot. Recently acquired an Anniversary edition. Bonus trax suck. Last heard 5 months ago. Prefer Off the Wall really.

21. The Great Twenty-Eight - Chuck Berry

Haven't heard this in ages. 20 years ago. Not even sure if the CD still works.

22. Plastic Ono Band - John Lennon

Noice! Lots of listens int he car driving to my ex's place. About 2 years ago.

23. Innervisions - Stevie Wonder

Not much relistens. About 7 months ago.

24. Live at the Apollo - James Brown

Don't have this. Only have Apollo 2

25. Rumours - Fleetwood Mac

Another perennial fave. Last heard a month ago.

26. The Joshua Tree - U2

What? Haven't heard it in ages under my own accord. Last heard a coupla weeks ago and that's only because my bro put it on in the car.

27. King of the Delta Blues Singers, Vol. 1 - Robert Johnson

I listen to "The Complete Recordings". A week ago.

28. Who's Next - The Who

Not really worth revisiting so much. Prefer the bonus tracks, such as "Pure and Easy".

29. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin

Haven't touched this in ages. Mostly cos i dunno where it is. About 20 years ago, I guess.

30. Blue - Joni Mitchell

Not a fan. I don't own a single sausage by her.

TheNiceGuy 12-08-2011 01:28 AM

3. Revolver - The Beatles About a month ago

5. Rubber Soul - The Beatles About a month

8. London Calling - The Clash 6 months

13. Velvet Underground and Nico - The Velvet Underground Ages, probably a year ago

17. Nevermind - Nirvana
Yesterday

19. Astral Weeks - Van Morrison Couple of weeks ago

25. Rumours - Fleetwood Mac Couple of weeks ago

28. Who's Next - The Who 3 Weeks ago

29. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin Two-three months back

Don`t underestimate yourself, looking at your list, you can probably teach some people quite a bit, there`s a lot of great classic and forgotten releases on it.

That Styx album btw, is easily their poorest from their mid to late 1970s golden era, as is only really on there because it contained "Babe", the rest of the album is quite bland.

I never said I disliked the original FWM, just that I preferred the second incarnation (proper) of the band. I`m actually a huge fan of blues rock in general, but I happen to think that a lot of the artists of that genre performed far better live than they did on their studio recordings. Ten Years After are a perfect example.

MoonlitSunshine 12-08-2011 08:28 AM

I will say before I list this, that I'm not in a big music spree at the moment - I've been realising how bad my Irish has got recently, so most of my listening time has been spent listening to Radio in Irish to remember how to speak it again :P That said:

1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles - Last Month
2. Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys - Errr... Never. I haven't got around to this one yet :P
3. Revolver - The Beatles - Last 3 months
4. Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan - Never - Not a huge Dylan Fan, I have heard bits and pieces of his music and he doesn't do much for me.
5. Rubber Soul - The Beatles - Last year, of their albums it's not one I listen to often
6. What's Going On - Marvin Gaye - Two years ago - went through a funk/soul spree about two years ago, I found him a bit repetitive tbh.
7. Exile on Main Street - The Rolling Stones - Never - The stones are an example of how inexplicable my listening patterns can be: Love what I've heard of them, but have simply never sat down and listened to on of their albums.
8. London Calling - The Clash Ohh... about 3 years ago.
9. Blonde on Blonde - Bob Dylan - Never - see above for comments about Dylan
10. The Beatles ("The White Album") - The Beatles - CD1 - last month. CD2 - proobably a bit longer, about 3 months ago.
11. The Sun Sessions - Elvis Presley - Never. Elvis is the kind of artist I hear bits and pieces of enough that I don't get the urge to listen to one of his albums.
12. Kind of Blue - Miles Davis - last year.
13. Velvet Underground and Nico - The Velvet Underground - I think I have listened to this, but it was so long ago I can't remember if I have or not :P
14. Abbey Road - The Beatles - last month
15. Are You Experienced? - The Jimi Hendrix Experience - about 6 months ago
16. Blood on the Tracks - Bob Dylan - Never
17. Nevermind - Nirvana - Does singing the songs to yourself count? If so - yesterday. If not: about 3 months ago.
18. Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen - 2 years ago
19. Astral Weeks - Van Morrison - about 6 months ago
20. Thriller - Michael Jackson - last year
21. The Great Twenty-Eight - Chuck Berry - never
22. Plastic Ono Band - John Lennon - never
23. Innervisions - Stevie Wonder - never - I have one stevie wonder album that gets listened to every now and then, but it is not this.
24. Live at the Apollo - James Brown - Nope
25. Rumours - Fleetwood Mac - last month
26. The Joshua Tree - U2 - 6 months ago
27. King of the Delta Blues Singers, Vol. 1 - Robert Johnson - never
28. Who's Next - The Who - about 6 months ago
29. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin - last year
30. Blue - Joni Mitchell - 2 months ago - gf is a fan, tend to be played every now and then.

I'll add that a lot of these intervals are much longer than they would normally be, as I haven't quite transferred my music from ireland to england yet, so I'm still missing a big bunch of CDs.

Sorry, but I've got to ask: How can you think an album is your favourite of all time, but also think it overrated?
