the funny thing is i have about 90% of those 500 albums

so i'm part of the "establishment" myself

and am speaking for "The Man"

Nobody is arguing that the majority of the albums are bad, or that you shouldn't own them, just that there are other more deserving records.

I'd love to see one of these publications boycott The Beatles, just to be different.

This is either a really awkward troll, or you've downright horrible taste. I see no reason why these bands being some of your favorites during childhood means their somehow great....

Anyways, the first metal album to appear is Paranoid... and that in the lower 100s. No Slayer, no Judas Priest, no Throbbing Gristle, no Ministry.....

This is the first time I've read the list. Okay, some the changes they made are WTF. First, they put in a ton of boring Indie crap, and then... Carter 3?! *Facepalm x 100*

Seems like a fairly standard list aside from that, and you can't really expect RS to pull out more than a few albums that arn't, you know, the "essentials."

they should take all the hiphop/rap albums off the list except for the kanye/jayz albums

I always enjoy lists like this, because it usually opens my ears to listen to good music what I may have missed.

but Dude, if kanye west and jayz is the extent of your hiphop/rap favorites, you need to get out more! Have you listened to some of the artists not from the last 10 years or so? Please take a listen to Wu-Tang Clan, Public Enemy, Run DMC, NWA, LL Cool J, etc.

Safe to say that there has been a lot of rubbish, but still.

How utterly predictable. I hate lists done by magazine journalists as, invariably, the list contains what they think should be on it, as opposed to what deserves to be.
