What kind of music would ______ have listened to?
Hey all! I got this random idea today at work, I think it'll be rather fun. Someone will suggest a random historical figure and we will all suggest genres/artists/songs that that person would have liked, were the music we have today available in their era.
Try to provide a link to a biography of your historical person, unless not everyone knows them, as I am about to do. I can start, and after it seems like a few good suggestions have been made and we come to a decent consensus, someone can propose a new famous figure. So, what kind of music would Caligula have listened to? :) |

And this, though I hate it
Another excellent idea from the person who brought you the "Nostalgia" thread... |
Hahahah lolololol Trollheart. It's so true, too.
He would be slaughtering babies or raping chicks to that lovely tune with a smile on his face. But where is that lovely horse from? Sooooo random. In terms of you will submit, I also agree. I was thinking something more akin to People = **** by Slipknot. Cuz I'm sure Caligula had no taste. |
I imagine that Caligula probably listened to this:
 |
Whatever that is, BD, it captures the sound of Caligula's deepest sorrows. However, I like TH's suggestions better. :P

For those Dance Nights he might host. I think someone like Caligula might have been a Rave Party Animal behind the scenes. |
I reckon Jesus would be a metalhead. He would be wearing a biker jacket, Morbid Angel t-shirt, black jeans and black Doc Martin boots. I reckon he would smoke weed as well. Mary Madgelene would also be his goth girlfriend.

I'm sure in his later years, he might have preferred more Neo-Classical/Neo-Folk/Martial with a dark side that's powerful.
|
I don't know why but I get the feeling Ghengis Khan would be that really obnoxious guy you inevitably see at metalcore shows, the guy who thinks he's in prison and thus must prove his dominance over every other guy at the show.

I could totally picture Caligula as Patrick Bateman right here: |
@Janzsoon...the Kylie Minogue is right on point. I also agree that he would never be Phil Collins lover.
@BD, that clip is fantastic. Somebody was just trying to convince me to watch American Psycho, now I'm definitely going to be downloading it today. :) As for Ghengis Khan, I could totally see him getting into Tenacious D. |
Let's try to kick some life into this thread afore it dies on us.
WKOMWJLT --- What Kind Of Music Would JESUS Listen to? ;) |
Jesus was a Sublime fan. All day, all night. Happy Good Friday by the way to all the Jesus lovers on MB.
Thanks for trying to save the thread, TH :) |
I think Jesus would be a fan of the Zombies for obvious reasons.
Edit: And of course the Church. |

Jesus would definitley be a Tears for Fears fan:
Tears For Fears - "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" - ORIGINAL VIDEO - YouTube ...and Ginghis, well here's an obvious choice: Iron Maiden - Genghis Khan - Video Clip - YouTube |
I'm not a practicing Christian, but you're all gettin Hay-soos wrong here. HE didn't want to rule the world, that's the Church. Seems to me the only thing Jesus wanted was for people to love each other, hence I believe this would have chimed with him...

This would be Caligula's theme song.

NAH!!! I'm far from being religious, but come on! I'm sure Jesus would have had better ears and would have thought of such namby pamby stuff too coy even for his soundtrack. I'm sure even he would have had a moment of just going mad. For my opinion, he would have heard something more like the songs from The Man in Black, Johnny Cash! Maybe in his more mystic moods, I'm sure Spacemen 3 would have fitted the bill. After knowing of the crap that surrounds us, I'm sure he would have tried to got into his inner peace through this stuff. To some, Jesus was a Soul Man. Well, if that was the case, he would be on the Road to Memphis and checking out the sounds of Stax. Then again, he might be a fan of Easter Everywhere, The 13'th Floor Elevators' great album. |
Fair enough. One song he would NOT want to hear though....

Moving on, do we have any ideas for Sacagewea?
|
How about this one?
|

That Cher song is epic. I just realized I don't know anything about her. Man, Cher. Legendary.

What, just cause she's a native american, she's pochahontas?! And besides, Pochahontas would probably be into disco. Like....Boney M.
|
Probably more than Sacagewea (sp?) was Disneyfied into Pocahontas for their sanitised animated film...
