It is okay to judge the musical tastes of others, but you must choose your words carefully. Scolding and rebuking are wrong actions. Calling someone a "moron" is not very productive either.

You probably already know this, but I want to clarify a point... Music is not 100% subjective. Musicians have to follow a few rules (i.e.: lyrical structure, the flow and the harmony of the melody, etc.) To a degree, music is scientific and technical. Some musicians follow the rules better than others. Some musicians produce songs very quickly; they don't care about quality. Some musicians are very patient; they dedicate a lot of time and energy into their music. Therefore some songs sound better than others.

If I was going to criticize someone else's musical tastes, I would choose my words very carefully. I would keep the listener's emotions into consideration. (The Golden Rule: Treat others as you would want them to treat you.)

But then again, to be honest, I don't really care. My friend can listen to any musician he/she wants to. This is freedom. This is democracy. The only reason I responded to this thread is because I wanted to show my contribution. I wanted to share a few ideas. That's it; that's all.

I used to go out with this girl who had what I'd call pretty much the worst taste in music ever. Any lame, hollow song that charted from about 2 or 3 years previously that I could think of, and she listened to and loved it. She was also really sweet, cool as a person and all kinds of sexy.

Similarly I've met tons of people who's taste in music I can't stand, not to mention people who can't stand my taste in music, but they've still been fascinating people who've made awesome friends down the years.

Couldn't care less about the tastes of others, basically.

This brings me to the question

Has anyone met someone with similar taste in music and they ended up being the scum of the earth personality wise?

Hey Bulldog, long time no see! Glad to see you around in my threads. :] I agree with you, the taste in music generally does not affect the personality of someone. I know plenty of sweethearts who listen to satan loving death metal bands!

Lol I really should say rap and hip hop fans in general. A lot of fans are just SOOOOO into the music they listen to and they support the artists so much that they don't want to hear ANYTHING remotely negative about them!

hmmm I guess but that's also true of people that have a favorite artist regardless of the genre. They don't want to hear negative things about their favorite artists and will fight you tooth and nail over it.

All you have to do around MB is explain why The Stone Roses, The Fall and Radiohead sucks 10 dicks and watch the chaos that ensues.

Yes but your question was if you met people with the same music taste as me and I found out they were horrible people. I usually find that everywhere I go.

All artists are going to have fans you like and fans you don't. There's no way you can go to a concert and like every single person there!
