Hey, thanks for the message of support! That´s really appreciated, misspoptart.

This morning I learned that Acker Bilk has died - an event that should not go unremarked. Even in his heyday he was something of a retro joke to irreverent youngsters such as myself. For young boys all fired up on Twist and Shout , it was difficult to take his name, his waistcoats or his brand of schmaltz seriously.

None the less he had one of the most maudlin mega-hits ever, so get the tissues ready and let´s hear it one more time for Acker:-

Before he got a turntable, i had my friends vinyl collection and he had an Acker Bilk record, it was called London Tea Time or something along those lines. I didn't think much of the record when I first listened to it, but I listened to it again. My turntable was set to 45 speed from a previous record I was listening to, and I have to say I enjoyed it a lot more.

RIP Mr. Acker Bilk, shame to hear he's passed.

Bert Tenzer's pitch for a simple Organ (you know the kind that had the Bass/Chord buttons on the Left side while your right was playing the melody) was something I found in a HUGE batch of them in some antique shop, must have been about 50 of the damn things there! The bummer is that there's no YouTube for me to unleash the campy cool onto you!

Thankfully, I can also say that I found an album of Hour Glass-era Allmans as well as as those very early Rod Stewart sides that get re-packaged over and over again as well...The Stewart's certainly no Never a Dull Moment, but it's nice to have around, especially as a cut out!

See the funny design in the circle - top left? It is a ligature of THP which stands for Town Hall Party. The only reason those shows were perserved was because they were filmed on Kinescope (aka telerecording in the UK). I always feel lucky that stuff was able to survive and I got a chance to see it.
