When I was 17-27 years old, I loooooved Kansas. Loved 'em. Then, starting in the mid 80's I started exploring other music, esp. Classical. Then, as I revisited the progressive rock of my youth, most of it held up well but Kansas did not, there was/is a cake & ice cream sappy ubersugarry element to their music (albeit extremely well performed) that just didn't work for me at all once I got into my 40's.

I recently revisited them in plug and enjoyed the parts that were good (mainly instrumental proficiency) but cringed at the candy-coated aspect. It was a short visit over the past week, I'm done with it now. Again.

Those cheesy rap songs where the chorus is sung by a pop star, examples being Eminem's recent hits, anything by Pitbull or B.O.B, etc. The songs aren't even that bad, but it seems like the rappers in question are just riding the coattails of artists like Rihanna, Ke$ha, etc, to make their songs more marketable. That's probably the intent, but still annoying, nonetheless.

I irrationally used to hate Metallica because his stupid redneck voice and crusade against Napster ruined my childhood. Not to mention the first album I heard was 'St. Anger'.

I'll admit they've grown on me though, since it was pointed out I listen to plenty of other very similar artists. Sometimes I miss hating them, it made me special.

Any other band I hate isn't irrational, I just straight up I don't like how they sound.

I always rationalized my hatred for Metallica, for various reasons. Even though I hate the band I don't hate every member. I have respect for Kirk Hammett as an artist, but I can't stand James H or Lars U.

Have you seen their 'Some kind of monster' doc? i found it very interesting even though idk alot about Metallica.

It explains alot about the inner dynamics of the band and it made me see Metallica in a new way.
Plus seeing Lars and James constantly arguing was entertaining as hell.

I thought that documentary made them look like head case primadonnas. It seriously shed light into why Dave Mustaine was much better leaving that band in the dust.
