Singles and music videos are promoting in the public eye because people can see and hear them.

Her team leaked those songs to determine the strength of the singles. When they both received poor reviews, her team came up with the idea to release her entire album all at once with flashy videos because the songs were not strong enough as singles.

This is different from Bowie because Bowie did not leak any of his songs. He just released his singles out of the blue the regular way.

If you liked it, you liked it... if you didn't, you didnt.

He didn't care.

He didnt leak songs to test the strength of the song.
