Here are some that immediately come to mind:
1. 'Every Breath You Take' - The Police ( 1983 ). Less is MORE. Classic! 2. 'Land Of Confusion' - Genesis ( 1986 ). Gabriel was probably envious! 3. 'Mouth For War' - Pantera ( 1992 ). Cool look and in your face. 4. 'Jeremy'- Pearl Jam ( 1991 ). An eerie precursor to Columbine. Chilling! 5. 'Hero' - Warrior Soul ( 1991 ). A salute to the blue collar worker. Interestingly, I think the videos that have held up over time better are the ones with a dark element to them. That was especially true with videos from the early 90's in particular. Great thread ( :wavey: ). |
David Bowie - Ashes to Ashes The song was release in 1980, and I guess the promo video was too - I'm not sure. The special effects was playing with the color control knobs till the sky turn black and the water as well. I thought it was very existential and similar to the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey, in the way there are nonlinear unfolding of events in the character's life, much like the ending of 2001. |
I think these three have aged well.

I'll never forget that running unicorn from the Enigma video. I totally agree with that choice, Lilja! :)

Aphex Twin - Window Licker
The Perfect Drug - Nine Inch Nails |
Anyone remembers the era where Hype williams was directing all the hip hop videos? :p: |
