Music Videos That Have Aged Well
A lot of the time music videos are pretty faddish in terms up how they're shot and put together, and as a result they tend to age badly. But there are some that stand the test of time fairly well and are still evocative or nice to look at many years after the fact. What are some of your favorites?
One that comes to mind for me is Don Henley's "Boys of Summer" video from 1984. I've always like the bittersweet mood of this video and I think, even if you don't like the song, it's hard to deny that it's well shot, especially compared to other videos from that time period. |
Primus and their claymation have stood the test of time for me:

First, i wanna say i agree with all of you, good exmpls :)
@Janzoon Saw the vid and it's true, im surprised that was from 84 the camera shots look very modern. @Plankton Good point, did you ever see Alice in chains 'i stay away' Claymation video? that video still creeps me out. Claymation or animation if done well can remain contemporary even through out the years. i was gonna post Green jelly's 3 little pigs cause even though the Claymation is a little outdated the silliness and randomness of it still feels very modern. |

I think pretty much all REM videos have stood the test of time, but three of them stand out for me. Orange Crush, Losing My Religion, and Man on the Moon.

It's a bummer you missed them but they're touring again with their new line up so maybe you catch them this time. Same as me, ive followed Kim's career with the amps and the breeders and ive also followed Frank black's solo career and with the catholics. Frank black is kinda like my music idol. i luv almost everything the guy does. |
@BD
Fully agree on loosing my religion, honestly that's one of the best music videos ive ever seen, it fits perfectly with the song and it's equally as misleading :p: This video still looks good imo |
