Music makes me feel like a social outcast (I'm serious)

Music makes me feel like a sociopath (to a degree). I am a juggalo. I really like Insane Clown Posse, Twiztid, Blaze, and all of the musicians of Psychopathic records. Being a juggalo gives me a sense of pride and belonging. When I think of the juggalos, tears come to my eyes... Psychopathic musicians are positive bad boys. In the music business, they are tough. But deep down inside, they are morally good. Violent J is a father and Violent J loves animals. But that's a different story... Anyways, I'm the only one in my neighborhood who appreciates ICP. All of the other folks in my neighborhood are too busy listening to pop music. I'm not bashing pop; I'm just saying. When I bring up the topic of ICP, people keep on telling me that "ICP sucks." But they haven't even heard a single ICP song. Some people insult the intelligence of ICP, which actually bothers me. But I try my best to ignore rude comments. At work, people laugh at me for listening to ICP. Either they laugh at me or they will say, "Shame on you." I have a hard time adapting to the cultures of my family. I love my family, but sometimes, I have a really hard time fitting in. Sometimes I just don't understand their culture. To make matters worse, I am an only son. So sometimes I have no one to talk to. Sometimes I need to get away from this sadness... Anyways, the juggalo culture and the juggalo music give me a sense of escape. When I think of ICP, my heart jumps with joy because ICP is my escape from pain.

My advice is to stop trying to define yourself by some prepackaged culture that you're supposed to be a part of because of some band or record label you like. It's ok to just be you. We all feel like outcasts in some way or another, it's part of the human condition.

I dunno that everyone feels like an outcast Janszy.I mean you think the "in crowd" feels like they are outcasts. I would not know bc I've never been in the in crowd.

Yes I do. Most people you perceive as being part of an "in crowd" probably do not think of themselves that way.

Just like the music that you really like, not because it has some "image" you think you fit, or want to fit. And don't care what other people think about your music, either. If they think you're a nerd for liking some particular band/artist, then screw 'em.

Just like whatever the **** you want to like, you don't have to feel like an outcast just because you like a universally hated artist, jeez.
If everyone did that each Justin Bieber or One Direction fangirl would be depressed, Everyone that genuinley likes Limp Bizkit would be depressed, people that like new green day would be depressed, etc.

And it's not that weird to like something universally hated. There's plenty people I know who like the same artists, but we have very different opinions on the discographies of the artist. Sometimes people like what's usually considered the worst album in a band's discography. That's okay, that's the thing that's fun to discuss. Even if you like a lot of the same artists, you can still discuss your opinions because they're still never the same.

Don't label yourself an outcast when you're not, that will only eventually make you...an outcast.

Also, like the guy above said, like music for the music, not because you want to fit in with certain people.
I love Punk music, but I'm nowhere near anything you could call a Punk.

It's when people describe their love of ICP in this way that I end up feeling guilty for ragging on them all the time. I say take the negativity and use it to give yourself confidence....every music fan experiences it to a degree. I'm at the point in my life where I honestly don't give two ****s what people think of my music. I'm confident I listen to way more music than 90% of the people out there, so I just feel bad for them in the sense that I "get it" and they don't.

I am curious, though...what is the age range of a juggalo? Are there still older juggalos running around that have stuck with the group since the beginning? Does the OP think he will remain a juggalo his whole life?

Of course, you can't come in here without one of us trying to persuade you one way or the other. Most metalheads will agree a lot of why they love metal is the community and acceptance aspect of it. Have you tried getting into metal?
