5 - Perfect
4.5 - Near Perfect
4 - Great
3.5 - Very Good
3 - Good
2.5 - Decent
2 - Mediocre
1.5 - Bad
1 - Very Bad
.5 - Terrible

Almost nothing gets above a 4 on first listen.

Here's my rating thing on RYM:
5.0 - Amazing, but I'm probably being biased
4.5 - ****in' Great
4.0 - Really good
3.5 - Good
3.0 - Above average, okay.
2.5 - Average, meh.
2.0 - below average, pretty bad.
1.5 - Bad.
1.0 - Very bad, horrible.
0.5 - Worst thing ever

I rate anything I listened to once (so I can see what I did and did not listen to on RYM), just based on what I feel.
Ofcourse this is pretty inaccurate, so sometimes if I listen to the album again, the rating changes.

Yeah tell me about it.
Go listen to a random album you haven't heard of before and throw some knee jerk ratings on it.

Then give it a real listen after a day and see if there are any changes.

Sometimes it stays the same though.

I don't think anybody can accurately rate an album based on only one listen. It usually takes me about two to three listens to form a proper opinion on an album. Some of my favourite albums I wouldn't have rated as highly on first listen as I do now.

People rating albums based on first listen is one thing which has put me off giving albums numerical ratings or rating them based on some scale. I don't want to forever define an album by a number out of ten or whatever as my opinion on the album could more than likely change for better or worse.

I know, but I still do it since it's still an easy way for me to see what I listened to.

You could just catalog an album and not rate it.

No, I've cataloged everything I have. I rate everything I've listen to.

This is a perfect (5) album. I can't imagine anyone who gave it a serious listen thinking otherwise.

It's so perfect that the video is not available.
