I can think of plenty of members that were immediately seen as extremely awesome from the very moment they posted their intro thread like innerspaceboy for example. I mean there's a pretty distinct difference between how that guy successfully integrated himself into the forum and how this guy tried to do it

in the real world would you walk up to a group of obvious friends....none of whom you know....who are having a heated conversation about music and simply say "hey guys these are the thousand bands i like! What do you guys think?"

you would be mocked much more than what has happened here

Just because I have an idea that is too ambitious in someones eyes, does not mean you have a green light to constantly mock me, or anyone. I would have been happy with five or less people discussing music. Of course the majority of people will not have time to go through weekly discographies or even my list of 1000 bands. For those who were not interested, then just move on to topics you like.

I started threads on people's favorite concert ever and first concert, which both got a decent amount of replies. After that was going well, I posted my project. For some reason, that put me on the s*** list. There was no reason to constantly attack me.

I cannot find the link to delete my account. I already sent an email to the webmaster to delete my account but prefer to do so sooner if there is a link for it.

Nobody posted in my thread about Matana Roberts. Can I please have my account deleted?

Yet you seem to get offended when we offered advice to you in the form of "maybe you should put some information about the bands you like from the get go" instead of trying to get members here to do it themselves. Like I said earlier, if I wanted to read a list of 1000 bands, I could do a simple google search and that would be it. If you really wanted people to be interested in what you wrote, you need to make it interesting. Nobody gives two ****s about a list because that's all it is, a list.

I think CoNtrivedNiHilism made some good points in his post a few pages back. Don't worry so much about what everyone else thinks and just keep doing what you're doing, if that's what you want to do. It seems like it's something that you really want to do for you, whether on here or not, so maybe just think of it as doing it for yourself, and if others join in then great, and if not, it isn't a big deal.
I have zero issues with someone disagreeing on stuff like which bands I have on my list or if someone likes Guns N Roses or not. I also do not care if no one responds to my posts. My issue is constant mocking.

Of course I will still continue my project, just not on here.

k so this advice has always puzzled me. "don't worry what others think" has always seemed to me as being a cute way of saying youre doing something wrong or dumb. like honestly, what does it mean? Robert frost has corrupted us all. oh wow ya joenorwood77 you are so different and interesting that we just cant comprehend your vast knowledge of bands. ~do what you want snowflake~

hi this is a forum. if youre going to post something that's quite obviously only important to you maybe don't cry about it when others don't think its as important. no we get it pal youre a martyr. dying on the breaking Benjamin hill

With friends, I have had excellent experiences sharing my list. Of course some would not read it because of the length. Others would discover obscure bands off of my list, and also suggest some bands I was missing. It was of mutual benefit. Since that was successful, I thought to myself, "just imagine how fun it will be to post this on a music forum".

Again, my only reason wanting to just delete my account is the constant mocking. If I see a topic I dislike, I just move on to topics I have interest in.

Regarding typing what I like about each band, I can still do that. For me, I thought posting the best 5 songs of each was plenty. My purpose of the 1000 bands was strictly to initiate discussion. I guess a discussion happened, just not what I had in mind. I was far more concerned with using it as a way of interacting with people on here than discovering new bands.

I am not even sure why I am trying to explain myself more. Many of you have clearly expressed how you couldn't care less and I am just wasting my time.

I received yet another email notification so my brief response to that one is: I never claimed to have vast knowledge of bands and not trying to sound better than anyone. However, it would have been cool if some people discovered new bands on my list, just like I would while reading their posts. I do not care if someone does not think my project is important. Again it is the mocking and bullying comments that went over the line.

I have started my artist/band of the week thread. Every week I feature one band, listen to their entire discography, and choose my favorite 5 songs for each band. Of course this will take like 20 years to complete but that is fine by me. I encouraged others to join and post their top 5 as well. This week was GNR and next week is going to be Cage the Elephant.
